Just finished watching today's Doctors. It was of a portmanteau film version, 3 stories told by three of the staff with a final twist. First story was sort of Bake Off connected but not really and the second one was a Faustian story. The third one was a pretty good attempt at a Whatever Happened to Baby Jane story. The two women really did look like their counterparts in that film.

Charles Williams was one of the group known as the Inklings whose best known members were  J R R Tolkien and C S Lewis. He was a writer of complex supernatural thrillers with a theological viewpoint. His last published book was All Hallows's Eve (from where Halloween is derived from). T S Eliot was an admirer of his books and wrote an introduction to that book.

Sir Peter Scott was the pioneer of nature conservation. Besides founding the trust he also founded the World Wildlife Trust.

A 1962 photo of him at Slimbridge.

And that of course is David Attenborough with him.

That's lovely

Good morning everyone

A dry and bright day, which is good  because Keira needs a bath.

Summer, I hope the garlic keeps away the bugs, as well as the vampires.

Have a good day everyone

Poor Kiera  gonna get all wet 😔

Still she will feel better afterwards 😊ðŸĪ—

Her face looked exactly like that when I was washing her but she got her revenge by giving herself a good shake before I had time to get out of the way, and giving me an unwelcome shower.

I hope today has been better for you, Moonie

The BBC trailer for Howards End doesn't say when it starts but it's scheduled to commence on Sunday the 9th at 21.00. 4 part adaptation of the book by E M Forster. It's likely to be of interest to fans of Downton Abbey.

Set just after the turn of the 20th century, Howards End is a tale of three families - the intellectual idealists Schlegel family, the working class Basts and the wealthy Wilcoxes.

Schlegel sisters Meg and Helen are shown exploring the lives of people above and below their class - while older sister Meg is pursued by the corporate raider, and widower, Henry Wilcox.

Looking across the social spectrum at a time of huge change, the drama illustrates how class divisions define people's lives no matter what choices they make.

Hayley Atwell - known for Captain America and Brideshead Revisited - plays Meg Schlegel while her sister Helen is played by Philippa Coulthard.

Meg's love interest Henry Wilcox is played by Pride And Prejudice star Matthew Macfayden, and comedian Tracey Ullman plays Aunt Juley Mund.

The show also stars Miles Jupp, Bessie Carter, Joe Bannister, Joseph Quinn, Yolanda Kettle, Alex Lawther and Rosalind Eleazar.

If you are puzzled as to what interest and inflation are and what the Bank of England Monetary Policy committee is, the BBC asked some people to explain these in a short clip.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/av/uk-41837556/
You need to watch to the end of the clip to see what happened to one of the committee

You don't need to be remotely interested in or understand such matters, it's still an enjoyable clip.

Talking of Scotch, but of a different nature, the most expensive dram has been proved to be a fake:

I hope you've recovered from that sudden shower

Moonie, I hope your day is going better for you than yesterday

I wonder too

I have recovered from my shower, thanks - and Keira is happily snoozing.

I’m interested in watching Howards End  I love Matthew MacFadyen
