El Loro posted:On University Challenge on Monday, one of the set of 3 questions after the starter was about leading ladies in Hitchcock films. Although they were able to identify a couple of the films (Vertigo and The Birds) they were stumped by the name of the leading actress (Kim Novak and Tippi Hedren). Fair enough if you aren't Hitchcock fans, but to both questions their answer was the same - Katherine Hepburn.
If anyone can name a Hitchcock film with Katherine Hepburn I would be surprised - as far as I know she never appeared in any of his films. Neither did the other Hepburn - Audrey, though some think that Charade was a Hitchcock film (Stanley Donen to save you looking that up if you didn't know).
Ooh, that's one UC question I could have answered

Good question, El.
Goodnight and sweet dreams, Ros
Hug for any night owls
night yogi and summer if you pop in
Good morning everyone
Cloudy here, dry at present but rain is forecast for most of the day.
In case you are wondering the subject of today's Goodle Doodle is the Indian astrophysicist Chandrasekhar, one of the most important astrophysicists of the 20th century. The Chandrasekhar Limit was named after him. That's 1.44 and is the maximum mass that a white dwarf star can have in comparison to the mass of the Sun.
I hope everyone has a good day
Good morning a damp & foggy start here
El, I had no idea we had that many centenaries living in this country, that's amazing. I hope they can offer some support & new friendships for the lonely ones, it must be awful having seen your family & friends pass before you
Good morning everyone, another very grey morning. We have a bit of a breeze here today but it's Saturday they are keeping an eye on. Storm Brian is going to be worse than ex hurricane Ophelia they reckon. I think I need to hibernate!
Enjoy your day everyone
I think my neighbour must be having some heating issues. Last week there was a boiler heating engineer there and I think was intending to put in a Worcester combi boiler. Today there are 3 work vans there. The boiler engineer is back (instantly recognisable as looks a bit like a Viking with red hair and a beard), Another van from the same company and a third unmarked one.
Of course with the health and safety rules, whenever an electrician changes a light bulb, a second person has to hold the ladder, and a third person to act as supervisor. And if the electrician doesn't have an official registration, someone who is registered also has to be present to ensure compliance

Where I live gusts on Saturday forecast to be in the 40s much of the day and peaking at 50 mph whereas on Monday although very windy it was more like high 30s peaking at about 42-4 mph. It won't be pleasant and certainly not a day for a walk on the beaches.
2 of the vans at the neighbours have gone but Viking Man is still there.
On Monday I had an email from Apple supposedly saying that my account was on the verge of closure and that I had to log in at the link in the email to secure my account.
Then on Tuesday I had an email from Paypal supposedly saying that my account had been limited and that I needed to log in at the link in the email to update my details.
As you realise the links were to dubious sites, quite possibly in India judging by the address names which appeared when I hovered over the links.
So I deleted both without going on to either site.
Oh, by the way, I don't have either an Apple account or a Paypal account

They're back so must have gone out to have their lunch.
They've got a boat with them, Not sure if it's because it's been raining non stop for over 3 hours or if they are going to put the remnants of the old boiler in it, take it down to the river, set it on fire and let it drift away.
I may be making that up
New software developed to make still photos of people more animated. It's thought this could go viral on websites.

Most of the photos shown are quite convincing though the one of the Mona Lisa painting isn't and I didn't think the one of Peter Capaldi really worked.
Good afternoon Buddies
We have had rain and quite a breeze all day. Same tonight, tomorrow and tomorrow night too
I see âBrianâ is on the way
To Brian
I hope your day hasnât been disrupted to badly
Have a great evening and if you have to venture out, please take care
Afternoon all
It has started raining up here.
I've been running around like a headless chicken today.
at your Viking tale, El.
Mr Y gets emails like that, purporting to be from Apple and from Amazon. Needless to say, he deletes them without clicking on any links.
Moonie, I hope you didn't have to go out in the rain.
Summer, I hope your cough isn't so troublesome today.
Squiggle, I'm hoping Brian burns himself out before he arrives in the UK.

Good morning everyone
Weather is dry ATM.
Dinner was great - Mr Y's steak was so enormous, he couldn't eat all of it. They gave us the half he left in a doggy bag to take home.
Have a good day, everyone.
Good morning everyone, lots of grey clouds again and it is definitely feeling colder. I'm glad you had a lovely dinner out Yogi.
Enjoy your day everyone

Good afternoon everyone
It started off wet and windy now it's dry and windy, well for now
I wonder how long it will be before I have to run down the garden to fetch my washing it in?
When I say run, itâs more of a stroll than a run
Have a great afternoon everyone

Moonie, hopefully your washing will be dry before the next onslaught of rain
A Freeview channel change I noticed today. Channel 62 renamed True Christmas (previously True Movies) and is now available on older Freeview TVs whereas it had been restricted to newer TVs. Probably mainly Christmassy films which have been on before. Later this afternoon it's got The Christmas Candle, the one about a village where the legend is that an angel visits every 25 years to touch a candle and whoever lights it receives a miracle and it has Susan Boyle singing.
