Well done Yogi on sorting out your outfit (apart from the shoes and bag)
Hatches battened down not that it's expected to be as bad as elsewhere. I hope you don't get problems

Moonie, much the same here, rather windy but trivial compared to other places.
For instance on the seafront at Penzance:
Love the pics, Moonie.
Got the tiddlers tomorrow, so I'll say goodnight and sweet dreams, everyone.

it's recycling week here and I've opted to not put my bin out tonight, it's only 1/4 full so it can skip a turn.
night yogi and summerstill awful here
Good morning everyone
Fairish weather and now just a gentle breeze. I hope no-one here has had storm problems.
Yesterday was the recycling day in my area but I put the boxes out just before they were due to be emptied and this happened before the wind had strengthened.
I hope everyone has a good day
Good morning sunny and bright here, and no storm damage
i hope our friends in the west are all ok
ive lost my voice! I feel fine but have had a throat thing going on since my holiday, and it's finally cracked lol
Good morning everyone, all seems well here and I hope it is for all of you too. My grandson was looking out into the high winds and saw the wind tear off a limb from one of our trees. I said we can pick it up later and he said no it's gone right down the valley!
Enjoy your day everyone
Summer, my brother came back from Lisbon last week and has a throat thing like yours - I hope it clears up soon
Squiggle, I'm glad no one got injured by that tree limb
Mammoth Screen were forced to shelve a drama about a certain country much in the news after hackers from that country targeted their website.

In case you wonder why I mention this, the company has done many other dramas such as Victoria, Endeavour and Poldark.

Confirmation that the discoloured sky yesterday was caused by dust from the Sahara,
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-e...inghamshire-41654436
Although one of the photos there is local, I didn't get to see anything like that. Though it was obvious when I saw my car windscreen this morning that there had been Saharan dust in the air.
Now's your chance to hear the sound of two neutron stars crashing into each other if you play the video clip. The article itself is technical and heavy going unless you are scientificly minded.

It's a touch less dramatic than you might think

Hope you've all had a good day and Summer's cough/sore throat has eased.
Goodnight and sweet dreams, everyone.

Very gloomy weather here, some drizzle possible at any time today.
Yogi, I'm glad you had a hood day with the tiddlers
Summer, I'm glad your bug isn't too bad
Ros, I seem to remember reading about similar conmen in my area back in 2007 in the aftermath of the floods
I hope everyone has a good day
Good morning everyone
It's raining up here.
I've got to go to the bank, post office and shops - hopefully, I won't get soaked.
Hope you're feeling a bit better this morning, Summer.
Have a good day, everyone.
I see that George Saunders won the Booker Prize:

though he's not this one:

Good morning everyone, a very grey morning, hardly a breath of wind, quite a contrast to a couple of days ago.
Summer I hope you can shake off the bug soon, good luck dodging the rain Yogi.
Enjoy your day everyone
Squiggle, the Met Office has issued a yellow warning for our areas for Saturday for strong winds with gusts over 50 mph with coastal areas at risk of flooding from large waves. Power cuts and transport disruption are possible. It's likely to be named storm Brian.
Sometime I post about winning entries in photography but won't this time for the Wildlife prize as the winner is graphically gruesome. It's easy enough to find but it's
One of the people being interviewed on next Monday's Panorama (7 people in their 100s) is a George Emerson who used one of the libraries my brother used towark at. George Emerson would do paintings of Barking and Dagenham, one of which he gave to one of my brother's friends.
Good afternoon overcast here today, but dry. I hope you've all slept well
El, that's exciting, when is the documentary showing on TV?

20.30 on Monday BBC1. The BBC's info on their site:
There are around 14,500 centenarians in the UK, a number predicted to double every ten years. One in every three babies born now is likely to live to be at least 100. Presented by Joan Bakewell, this PanoramaSpecial follows seven people who have reached 100 years or more.
Many are still alert and active, like 105-year-old Diana Gould, who exercises every day. Actor Earl Cameron's last part was at 97 in Inception with Leonardo DiCaprio. He is ready if his agent calls. Others are acutely lonely, like George Emmerson, an amateur painter and former tax officer, now living alone after his wife of 68 years died. But like many, he values his independence and still wants to live at home. Almost all need help and care from the government, the NHS, local authorities and families. But are they all prepared for life at a hundred?
(the Diana Gould is not the one who became famous when she confronted Margaret Thatcher on television about the sinking of The Belgrano in the Falklands War)
On University Challenge on Monday, one of the set of 3 questions after the starter was about leading ladies in Hitchcock films. Although they were able to identify a couple of the films (Vertigo and The Birds) they were stumped by the name of the leading actress (Kim Novak and Tippi Hedren). Fair enough if you aren't Hitchcock fans, but to both questions their answer was the same - Katherine Hepburn.
If anyone can name a Hitchcock film with Katherine Hepburn I would be surprised - as far as I know she never appeared in any of his films. Neither did the other Hepburn - Audrey, though some think that Charade was a Hitchcock film (Stanley Donen to save you looking that up if you didn't know).
