Fascinating BBC clip about a documentary called Dawson City: Frozen in Time (which is part of this year's London Film Festival). Vast quantities  of very old silent films were taken to the Yukon Territory to be destroyed many years ago. But some years ago some of the reels were found by chance. The extremely cold conditions meant that the reels had not totally disintegrated. A film maker, Bill Morrison, decided to make a documentary about this including clips from those films.

What a fantastic find.

Patrick, the poetic train announcer

That reminded me of this station announcer we heard at Waterloo tube station on our recent London trip.

He put a smile on everyone's faces.

There used to be the Morris Minor Traveller which some of us will recognise from the past:

Yep, I'm old enough to remember that.

Yogi, I'm also old enough to remember those vehicles, There is another car manufacturer who uses wood inside some of their vehicles but at the opposite end of the spectrum from a Morris Minor Traveller and that's Rolls Royce not that I've ever been in one.

I'm not surprised your station announcer put a smile on everyone

Good morning everyone

Weather is dry and bright but I think bad weather is in the way.

Summer, I would usually rub Keira dry with towels, then finish her off with a hairdryer but I felt she was not stable enough to stand for a long time in one spot to use the hairdryer, so I just used lots of towels until she was as dry as possible, then left her to dry with the heating on. I was cooking!

Out and about with hubby today. Have a good day, everyone

Awww nice to see Keira is getting back to normal Yogi

Love the hairdryer bit

Good morning everyone

Cloudy and dry here, rain forecast for later.

Firefox 56 which has just been released has a new feature which I spotted. There's a new icon at the top right which looks like scissors with a bluey/green star called screenshots. If you want to know more about this and how to use it::
https://support.mozilla.org/en.../firefox-screenshots
If you use private browsing you won't see this icon.

I hope everyone has a good day

Good morning everyone

Following heavy rain last night, it is now dry and quite bright.

Thanks for the Firefox info, El. I have FF on my laptop.

Keira had a bit of a wobble on the back step late last night, which was a bit worrying but, this morning, she seems absolutely fine. I think I might have to accept that, as an elderly lady, she might have the odd stumble.

I'm about to give her some breakfast, so I'll see how her appetite is.

Have a good day, everyone

Update: She has eaten all of her breakfast.

Good morning everyone, quite bright with some blue sky but on the whole the forecast for the weekend is horrible.

Good news about Keira Yogi I agree that a little wobble now and then is probably to be expected, the important thing is that she seems to be enjoying her food again and I'm sure she will get a little extra spoiling which will make her extra happy.

Interesting about FF EL, not sure I would use that particular feature though.

Enjoy your day everyone

Yogi, I'm glad that Keira's improved appetite is continuing Could her stumble last night be due to a touch of arthritis caused by being still slightly damp from her bath and that was better this morning?

Squiggle, what I had noticed about Mozilla's screenshot facility is that you can control which part of the screen you copy. Although my computer has the usual prt scr key that copies the entire screen.

We are certainly giving her some extra spoiling.

I don't think she was still damp, El but it definitely could be arthritis related.

I normally give her a canine glucosamine tablet every day but when she was unwell, I omitted them as she was on a lot of other meds. She is now back on the glucosamine tablets, so hopefully any stiffness will ease off.

Good morning everyone

Cloudy here wiht bits of rain around. Apart from some rain and being breezy, the forecast for my area is better than for other areas.

Watched a Laurel & Hardy film I had recorded - Pack Up Your Troubles (1932). One of their more serious comedies as the first part is them drafted into the first world war and the second part is looking for the parents of another soldier who died so that they can give the soldier's young daugher who they were looking after to them. The daugher is played by a 4 year old called Jackie Lyn (Dutton) who is adorable. The highlight of the film for me was her telling Stan the Goldilocks story.

I hope everyone has a good day

Good morning and happy October!

my mum is here, yay! I picked her up straight from work yesterday and we had a jolly good catch up all evening, including watching strictly

hows keira this morning? I hope she is alright after her wobble yesterday.

I cant believe someone was foolish enough to put their hand in a lions cage

Good morning everyone

It's very rainy and dark here today.

Summer, I hope you and your mum have a lovely time together.

I think Keira's wobbles are not related to the vestibular disease, and are more to do with the arthritis in her hips. Now that she is back on the canine glucosamine tablets, I hope to see an improvement. She is still eating well and seems happy in herself.

I'm hoping to put some plants and bulbs into a couple of big pots today. If the weather doesn't improve, I may need to do it in the garage.

Have a good day, everyone.

Summer, I'm glad you are having a nice time with your mum

Yogi, it's nice that Keira seems to be happy and still eating well

Talking of wobbles, a near neighbour and client of mine was at church this morning. She had a fall (she's mid 60s ) and was a bit faint. They were going to call an ambulance but there was an ambulance delay, the ambulance people rang to say this but we cancelled the ambulance as she was better. She was able to drive home so I rang her a few minutes ago. She answered and they are going to A&E just be be on the safe side. Her husband will take her.
