El Loro posted:Fascinating BBC clip about a documentary called Dawson City: Frozen in Time (which is part of this year's London Film Festival). Vast quantities of very old silent films were taken to the Yukon Territory to be destroyed many years ago. But some years ago some of the reels were found by chance. The extremely cold conditions meant that the reels had not totally disintegrated. A film maker, Bill Morrison, decided to make a documentary about this including clips from those films.

Patrick, the poetic train announcer
That reminded me of this station announcer we heard at Waterloo tube station on our recent London trip.
