Evening Yogi

The last time I tested mine @ 5 years ago it was around 8mbps with Sky      Couldn't get a clip or vid to stream at the time so phoned them up convinced it was my lappy. Sure it's changed now and I forget how to do it but recall it was pretty simple.

How's Keira getting on, I've been thinking about her hoping she's more like her old self?

Evening Velvet.

I've never tested my broadband and tbh, I can't remember what speed Virgin claim it is. I'm sure Moonie or El will be able to tell me how to do it.

Keira is still eating and is more interested in everything. Tomorrow is her last day on the tablets, so we'll soon be able to see if the meds have done the trick.

That's got to be a good sign Yogi and long may it continue       Ours had a mad couple of hours a few nights ago, worked herself into a right lather at midnight and was trying to open all the doors to get out after she had been brought in for the umpteenth time but thankfully she settled down. They soon let you know when something's up and you're really rendered powerless. Our's is full of lumps and you just know but she's content and happy 99.9% of the time so we don't need a vet just yet

Aww, I'm glad Dolly settled down. When they're ill, I wish they could talk and let us know what's up with them  I'm sure you'll know when it's time to take her to the vet.

Are you following Rellick or have you given up on it? I'm recording that and Liar atm but the characters and improbability of it all are making it a hard watch.

I'm recording Rellik but I haven't watched any of it yet.

I'm watching Liar but I haven't warmed to any of the characters.

Evening gang hope you've all

had a good day. Ours was really mild but remained mizzley all day, despite the sun trying to break out a couple of times. I enjoyed my after work walk because it was very still & peaceful.

I'm stranded on the living room rug whilst the floor around me dries

glad to hear keira is doing well and that no one has fallen for any phone scams

 What are you like!

After a damp and misty start, we had some sun in the afternoon.

@Yogi19 , googling broadband speed test shows quite a few which you can use. The one I use (and is also the one that Virgin support seem to recommend) is speedtest.net by Ookla.
http://www.speedtest.net/

It looks around for a server with a low ping rate before doing the test. Download is tested first and that's the one which is the advertised rate. Then upload is tested. That's always a far lower rate. My results just now are download 77 and upload 5 which are typical.

El Loro

Good morning everyone, a hazy blue sky but 100% humidity which is making it feel a little clammy.

The Openreach engineer last week said that upload speed only needs to be about 1, which I never knew.  I have just downloaded a short video, my download speed is 6.83 with an upload speed of 0.87 and a ping of 44ms.  The video downloaded in seconds so although the speed sounds paltry measured against what some advertise nowadays it seems to be more than adequate for my needs.  I think the speed, for those not on cable, is also reliant on how near the telephone exchange, although I may well be out of date on that now.

Enjoy your day everyone

squiggle

Squiggle, I think you are right about the distance from the telephone exchange. The speeds you are getting are fine for your needs. The faster speeds are more for being able to download really large files and live streaming of films in HD.

Although my speeds are fast by comparison, that's because I had to cease using the BY line with the near non-existent connection (I think due to a corroded cable to the house) and move to Virgin in order to bypass that.

Just has a phone call from someone sounding Chinese calling himself Sean offering me a commercial business loan up to ÂĢ1 million. Told him not interested and put the phone down on him.

I would think it's one of those scams where I would be expected to pay an advance fee of ÂĢX thousand and never see a penny.

Same number but a Chinese woman ths time offering loans between ÂĢ5k and ÂĢ5 million. I've put the number on my barred list but, assuming it is a scam, they are know to change the number.

If it's not a scam, it's rather strange that they would offer loans of that size over the phone.

Evening all

I checked out my broadband speeds and they seem pretty fast. I did it three different times and got speeds ranging for 167 to over 200 for download but the upload speed averaged 12 - 13.

Moonie, I love the swan pic

El, I'm sure that's a scam.

Children and I went to the park in the afternoon, on an unsuccessful trip to find conkers (to keep the spiders away). However, the children did get to play in the playground and we collected leaves and twigs so they could make autumn pictures.

Sorry yogi, I went to tell off bramble for eating slugs again and then remembered I hadn't put my hand in the slow cookers yet!

The pics sound lovely, I love it

No problem, Summer.

I presume you mean ham and not hand?!

Good morning everyone.

Weather is dry but overcast.

I've ordered (online) an outfit for the wedding. I bet I hate it by the time it arrives.

Have a good day, everyone.
