night yogi and summer if you pop in
Thanks girls sweet dreams
yogi I'm glad you had a good day with the tiddlers how's bake off going?
El, that vandalism is a disgrace. I often sit on benches with a view for a couple of minutes, during my longer walks, they're fab.
Good morning everyone
Cloudy but dry here.
Yogi, I'm glad you had a good day with the tiddlers
Yogi and Summer, as you say those idiots are a disgrace
I hope everyone has a good day
Good morning anyone care to hoover & wash my car for me..? No? Ok I guess I had better do it myself then
sad news about the earthquakes, the world's weather really is powerful lately
Good morning everyone.
Weather is overcast and rain is forecast.
Terrible news about the earthquake in Mexico.
We are taking Keira back to the vets this afternoon. She isn't improving as she should and we are struggling to get her to eat. The children hand fed her a big tin of ham yesterday, otherwise she wouldn't have eaten anything - she refuses to eat from her food bowl.
Summer, my middle son cleaned my car, inside and out, while I was away - pity you don't live nearer.
Have a good day everyone.

Surprisingly good.
I didn't intend watching when it went to CH4 but Baz persuaded me to give it a go.
I already liked Sandi and Noel is very good (hadn't heard of him before). Prue is showing her nicer side and Paul is ....just Paul.
Summer, as you say, sad news about the second earthquake in Mexico .
Re global warming, the article in The Sun today which talks about an article in Nature GeoScience, and the Sun's conclusion which effectively rubbishes global warning, here's a link to the actual article on Nature GeoScience.
Extremely technical but I think it's saying that global warming is happening, possibly slower than the worst predictions.
Good morning everyone, a fair morning with a bit of a breeze. It's a bit worrying about Keira, I hope the vet can get to the bottom of it quickly.
Enjoy your day everyone

Awwww poor Keira
I hope the vet can find whatâs causing her not to want to eat
Ohhh just had a thought re Keira not eating from her bowl. Have you changed it or washed it up in anything different Yogi?

Hi everyone.
We managed to get Keira to the vet's morning surgery (as Mr Y was home earlier from his doctor's appointment than expected).
The vet explained that while most dogs recover quickly from vestibular disease, some dogs are left with the symptoms permanently. At Keira's age it would be unkind to leave her feeling sick, wobbly and sad on a permanent basis - tbh, she wouldn't last long if she won't eat - so he suggested we try to "throw everything at it" and hope that it does the trick. He gave her a steroid injection and an anti-sickness injection, and three different lots of tablets. If this doesn't do the trick, then we will have to do what's best for her.
On a positive note, the injections have already kicked in and she has eaten some scrambled eggs and had some of hubby's chicken satay pieces and has shown some real interest in food for the first time since she became unwell.
I will hope for the best.

No, nothing different. I even tried feeding her from her water bowl, as she has been drinking normally.

Pretty stuck for words tbh but c'mon Keira, for yourself girl
Thanks El and Velvet.
She ate some proper dog food at teatime and seems brighter in herself.
The big test will be once the medication is finished but, for now, she is showing some improvement.
velvet donkey posted:Good to hear Yogi and everything crossed the meds "jump-start" her
Sorry Velvet, I was in the GW thread with Baz.
Yes, I've got everything crossed. Young vet was great, he said let's throw everything at it and give her every possible chance.
*night owls*
aw yogi, here have a great big I too will keep my fingers tightly crossed, I'm glad the medications are helping already. Darned vestibular disease

How was your day?
Pretty busy, and not the day I had planned lol but such is life.. the weather was great so I cut the grass and took some garden waste to the tip. Then the dentist rang me, offering me a cancellation slot. So I've had my filling replaced (it popped out a few weeks ago) which was fine but the injection hit a nerve and it's very sore now
how were the tiddlers?

Well done on getting the grass cut. It's been raining all day, up here.
ouch, that must have hurt. I hate going to the dentist.
Tiddlers were on good form. PB approves of your film viewing, btw.
BB can say Keira now, he's stopped calling her Harvey
Aaaaw bless him!
hehe, I thought she might
i hope keira is comfy tonight
our forecast for tomorrow is rotten so I'm glad I could get grass cut now

He's chatting a lot more now.
Keira is a lot brighter, she's even been wagging her tale, and she smiled at MrY.
I think Saturday is to be dry here so I'll try to get our grass cut then.
Sorry yogi I'm going to Churchill xxxx

She slept well and I managed to get her to take the (huge!) anti sickness tablets this morning. I'll give her the other tablets once the anti sickness ones have had time to work.
Thanks Ros, we know she's quite elderly for a golden retriever but until this happened, she was still enjoying a good quality of life - so fingers crossed these meds will work.
Good morning everyone.
Weather is cloudy and overcast.
Thanks El.
Keira update in the post ^^^^
Have a good day, everyone.
Good morning everyone, very wet here. I'm glad Keira had a good night, I googled what Keira is suffering from and I notice that they say it is 'self-limiting' so hopefully once the medications kick in she will start to recover and be her old self again, here's hoping.
Enjoy your day everyone
According to the British Film Institute, of the 74 British films made so far this year the percentage of named cast being female was 28%. The equvalent percentage for 1913 was 26%.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-41320758
So at that rate the percentage will get up to 50% in a bit over 1,000 years.
If you haven't done so already and can, I suggest putting a block on your phone for 01241855776. Hundreds of posts about this on the likes of who called me and searches on that site are over 35,000 so far. Likely to ask about your Hotpoint washing machine even if you don't have one and looks as if they then want your bank details. Once they start ringing your number they will continue at least once a week.

In most cases, the dogs recover within 10 days but a few don't. Vet said it's idiopathic vestibular disease which basically means they aren't sure what sets it off and don't they really know why a few dogs are left with the symptoms. One reason would be a brain tumour but Keira isn't presenting other symptoms which would point to that. It is more prevalent in older dogs.
Good news is that Keira ate some breakfast - not as much as usual but she ate without much persuasion. This afternoon, I cooked some liver in gravy and added in to her dog meal and she ate the whole lot.
She is definitely brighter and happier today.
