Evening all.

Mr Y can join you gents in the Twilight Zone. On more than one occasion someone has approached him, nattering away like he was an old friend. Then Mr Y speaks and they go  "You're English, you aren't him!".

We still have no idea who "he" is.

El, I'd never heard of a poustinik before.

Well done on getting your washing dried, Moonie. It's been a mix of sunshine and light showers here today.

Uplifting video, Squiggle.

Good morning everyone, it's a lovely morning here, a little spoilt by Mr Badger who seems to have turned up with his whole family last night and had a real good go at my lawn.  So I've been out and rectified the damage.  He often seems to choose a Saturday night!  Do you think it's his idea of a good night out?

Enjoy your day everyone

squiggle

Good morning everyone.

Weather is dry with flashes of sun. El, I think Summer has forgotten to visit Scotland.

lol Squiggle, let's hope Mr Bagder chooses someone else's garden for his wild party next week.

Off to see eldest son and DiL's integral garage conversion. PB and BB now have a lovely playroom to keep their thousands of toys.

Have a good day, everyone.

Good afternoon Buddies

Wall to wall sunshine since 7am this morning. Getting really quite hot here now

A slight breeze but nothing to write home about

Squiggle, I wonder if Mr Badger and family may need a "morning after cure' after lasts nights foray into your garden

Yogi, I am sure the toys will be glad of some breathing space

Hi El, I hope your day is a good

Those of you who have sunshine, enjoy it while it lasts

The abbey in Cirencester is long gone thanks to Henry VIII. The most notable church there in the centre is St John's. Many years ago I was at the premises of one of the firm's clients. We were shown around the premises and were able to get on to the roof where we got an exceptional view of the town centre including that church.

Henry VIII destroyed a lot of places of worship in his time, didn't he El?

I bet that view was stunning

We have some rather lovely churches around here. Then odd cathedral too

Moonie

Moonie, yes, Henry VIII did - a partial list of the monasteries he dissolved:

That doesn't mean that they were all destroyed. For instance Tewkesbury Abbey was saved by the people of Tewkesbury insisting that it was their parish church, they bought it from the Crown, and it survived intact to this day where it is still the most important C of E church there.

my quiet weekend didnt quite go as planned; my friends husband has taken ill and ended up in hospital, so I kept their daughter occupied last night.

Today has been a beautiful summers day here, we did a nice walk and bramble took a mud bath in a stinky puddle

Good morning everyone.

Weather is overcast and rain is forecast.

Going out and about with hubby then doing all the housework and ironing I won't be able to do tomorrow when the tiddlers are here

Summer, I hope your friend's hubby makes a quick recovery.

Have a good BH Monday, everyone south of the border.

I know that there's no interest in cricket here but this was on the test match commentary on the radio yesterday - it's rather unusual. Check that the sound isn't muted before playing the audio clip.

I listened to that too El

Brian Johnson was an absolute legend. I loved his giggling fits and some of the stuff he came out with

The most famous one (at the Oval in the test match between England and West Indies in 1976) has never been proved to have been actually said though the bowler in the quote did bowl to the batsman in the quote so it is possible.

It's been rainy and chilly here today

I got everything done that I had planned.

The Red Arrows are amazing, Squiggle and El, you are lucky to have seen them.

Gents, I'm afraid I know absolutely nothing about cricket.

I hope you've all had a good day.

Hi Yogi

It's still quite hot here, even now

Well done to you

Yogi, I have been watching cricket since way back in the day and I am the same as you, not a lot better off
