night yogi and summer if you pop in
Good morning everyone
A wet morning here but this isn't like yesterday's downpour and not likely to cause problems for people,
The downpour started just after a service finished at the cathedral. It was a special service held regarding the floods of 20 July 2007. Although there was some flooding yesterday as one would ecpect it was trivial compared to 2007. The downpour only affected Gloucester. Cheltenham and Tewkesbury stayed dry.
I hope everyone has a good day
Good morning, everyone
It's raining up here.
El, I hope the people who attended the service didn't get drenched.
I'm off out to buy niger seeds and nuts for the birds. They are costing me a small fortune.
Have a good day everyone.
Yogi, your post reminded me of this:
(Jane Darwell, the bird woman, had retired from acting but Walt Disney came to her home and asked her to be in the film)
Good morning it looks sunny and nice out so far, I've just had a nice lay in a girl friend of mine came over last night and ended up sleeping over. Bramble is curled up in bed with her lol
we're going out for breakfast and a walk, I hope you all slept well
el, thanks for that link, it's another fantastic line up then
Good morning everyone, it's raining here but nice gentle stuff, pretty to watch from my window, somehow it always blows from left to right - towards the sea. Wow that sounds like a whole lot of rain yesterday EL, I hope not too much damage was caused.
Well that looks like an (un) inspiring line-up for CBB, thanks for the link EL, I reckon I will probably be following your example. And what's with all these girls with so many tattoos? I guess I'm just old fashioned but they don't look attractive to me at all.
Enjoy your day everyone
Squiggle, I don't find tattoos at all attractive either.
On a lighter note:
Main casualty of the rain here on Sunday and yesterday is the Kingsholm rugby stadium. It's not just the pitch but quite a lot of the changing rooms and other areas. Rough estimate of the damage is at least half a million.
Official trailer issued in the last day for the 40th anniversary re-release (and digitally enhanced to 4k) of the greatest film ever made

and a notable performance by the French film director Francois Truffaut. His English wasn't strong and he stuck pieces of paper with his lines on various objects which he could read but the camera wouldn't pick up. The other significant acting role he did was in his own Day for Night, 4 years earlier. He played the part of a director making a film and in the film there's an actress who has difficulty with her lines so he did the same for her.

I love Mary Poppins
Squiggle, the rain up here was unfortunately not of the gentle kind, it was bucketing down! However, it did brighten up in the afternoon.
The CBB line up has been rubbish since it went to CH5. They really have ruined the show.
Summer, I hope you enjoyed breakfast with your friend and your walk.
El, I'm not a fan of the Close Encounters films - I prefer Mary Poppins.
Good evening I was going to watch BB but it's not on for another half hour yet
i hope you've all had a good day
Evening Summer
I'm watching "The Dirty Dancing Story" ATM. BB is on afterwards - from the sublime to the ridiculous.
I'm watching it too yogi, I love that movie

Me too, it's one of my favourite films.
Dirty Dancing is on CH5 on Sunday night.
That's a great reason to come to bed early
When I was a little girl, I used to curl my hair with a hot brush, because I wanted my hair to be like Baby's lol
I'm about to nod off yogi, sweet dreams

Aww, I just managed to stay awake.
Goodnight and sweet dreams, Summer and Ros.
Good morning everyone
Dry at present, showers forecast today. Although around 2 mm of rain is forecast, after the last few days, I doubt if anyone local trusts the reliability of the forecasters.
Yogi, Mary Poppins is one of my all time favourite films, Close Encounters isn't.
I see that the Talking Pictures channel is showing a very old film in the small hours tonight. It's a 1929 film called The Great Gabbo. It's about a ventriloquist who goes mad, played by Erich von Stroheim. It also happens to be a musical. It's not a good film and can only be viewed as a curiosity.
Visiting a local client this morning.
I hope everyone has a good day

We're in agreement.
Good morning everyone
It's raining again but not as heavy as yesterday.
Housework, ironing and grocery shopping awaits.
Have a good day, everyone.
Yogi, I hope your housework & shopping goes well
I've found a news item on my local news site about the cause of the downpour on Tuesday. Apparently winds from the north and from the south met right over the centre of Gloucester so the eye of the storm was right over there and didn't move. I'm a couple of miles away from the centre so got away with a mere 28 mm. The centre got 64 mm.

That's a lot of rain!
Good morning everyone, I'm also on the Mary Poppins side rather than Close Encounters. Amazing about the eye of the storm EL, that's a lot of rain.
Your comment about the winds from the north and south meeting reminded me of this clip of where the Atlantic meets the Pacific but they never mix - difference in salinity I would guess - in the Gulf of Alaska.
Enjoy your day everyone
Good afternoon I hope you're all having a good day
it's chilly & overcast here, it feels like autumn
Squiggle, someone posted an article about the Atlantic and Pacific meeting as to why they don't apparently mix:

Summer, it's breezy here but so far hardly any rain. With the forecast here at present, although it's warmer than autumn, there's very little sign of any summer here though it may improve mid August.
Someone somewhere has this rather valuable item "lost" by the British Museum:

Sunshine and showers here today. Not chilly though, so Keira and I managed to get a walk between showers.

Shocking that they don't have to report losses for 5 years!
5 years?!
evening night owls
ive just read an article that was written by prince William as he finishes his job as an air ambulance pilot. I'm glad he got to have a real life job before taking on royal duties full time, and he sounds so lovely. I think he'll be a much loved king some day
Sorry Summer, I didn't realise you were here.
Yes, I think Prince William is a good person and will make a good King when the time comes. Personally, I'd be happy for Charles to step aside and let William take over when the Queen eventually dies.
Goodnight and sweet dreams, Summer and Ros
night yogi and summer

Rather breezy here, dry for the time being,

Good morning all.
Weather can't seem to decide what to do. One minute, it's cloudy and grey, the next minute, the sun is shining.
Have a good day, everyone.
Yogi, it's quite sunny here at present but it's not expected to last, I think the gulf stream is running over the country at present which is what's behind the very unsettled weather.
