Afternoon all.

Awaiting the visitors' arrival.

It's been showery up here, so my washing ended up in the tumble dryer. I ought to have sent it down to you, Moonie.

lol El, seagulls don't have the same attraction as swans.

I'm glad you've had some sunshine, Squiggle.

Summer, I hope you are having a lovely time with your mum.

I know they will be as glad to see you as you are them

My clothes where actually warm when I fetched them in

I think I will have to be 'creative to find some washing for tomorrow, as more of today's weather is expected

Agreed about seagulls, although we do have our fair share of them here, even though we are just about as far from the sea as it is possible to get

It's usually when the weather is bad on the coasts

I've got a 20% chance of rain on my area tomorrow

*night owls* sorry to have just missed you yogi! Sweet dreams and have a good time with the tiddlers

those bun pics are making me hungry I love icing on cakes, and I love rhubarb

since my friends heart attack, I've been much more aware of my own eating habits and have been eating more white meat instead of my favourite red. I think one meat free day a week would be a wise idea too

~Sparkling Summer~

Good morning everyone, a bit drizzly but looks like it might brighten later.  Good thinking Summer, I just can't digest red meat any more so that is taken out of the equation.  I find myself eating much lighter meals lately, especially in summer and I feel better for it.  I do like a fried egg now and then though EL.

Enjoy your day everyone

Hopefully, none of you will come across a Razanandrongobe sakalavae. Probably not as they died out some 170 million years ago. Rather like a giant crocodile but with teeth more like those of a Tyrannosaurus Rex:

I think I saw one of those over the Lake District one time, but perhaps I was mistaken

You might have been hallucinating on an overdose of Kendal mint cake

I watched (for the third time) a 1941 film I had recorded some weeks ago on the Talking Pictures channel. "The Devil and Daniel Webster" (also known as "All that money can buy"). 19th century farmer sells his soul to the devil (Mr Scratch played brilliantly by Walter Huston). Can the highly respected Daniel Webster (played by Edward Arnold) save the farmer when Mr Scratch comes after 7 years to collect the farmer's soul?

Many film books regard this a a very good film, a lot better than the Radio Times who dismiss the film with a 2 star rating. Ignore that rating and try the film if and when it gets shown again.

Good morning everyone, a beautiful morning here.  Like you Yogi I'm catching up on things, closing in on the last tiny bit of the housework and hopefully enjoying a lovely sunny afternoon when it's all done.

I did a search on catch-up for that film EL but nothing came up so I will have to keep an eye open for the listings.  Fierce stuff that Kendal Mint Cake - could lead to all sorts of strange imaginings.

Enjoy your day everyone

Squiggle, I hope you finish your housework quickly. I had recorded that film several weeks ago. I think it likely that Talking Pictures will show it again some time.

My pick of today's Talking Pictures films would be Thunder Rock at 19.10. A 1942 supernatural film  - Michael Redgrave is a lighthouse keeper and the effect of solitude on him. It's a Boulting Brothers film but made years before they made their comedies.
On the same channel on Sunday at 6 am they've got a 1937 film called The Vicar of Bray which has got Stanley Holloway in. It's set in the time of Charles I and I've never seen anything quite like it I think it was based on a satirical song (which is sung during the film) which was written some time before 1734. Some people might like it but I can't recommend it other than to say it's rather odd.

Although much of Poldark is filmed in Cornwall some of it is filmed in Gloucestershire. Some of it is filmed in Lasborough (the church) which is near Tetbury, some of it in Cirencester and at Berkeley Castle. I would assume most likely at some of the manor houses shown. Most notable is Trenwith which is actually Chavenage House near Tetbury.

Summer, I have caught up on housework, washing, drying and ironing, cleaned out the fridge, walked Keira and cut the back grass. No cuppa but a nice cool glass of squash.

El, I enjoyed the first series of Poldark but found my interest waning in the second series. Even gorgeous Aidan couldn't keep me watching.

Squiggle, I hope your sunshine has arrived.
