Good morning everyone

Another hot and sunny day here. Wednesday forecast to be much the same. Then all change Wednesday night with some rain and temperatures coming back down to normal. The Met Office heat-health watch has most of England at level 3 rather than the top level of 4 (it only includes England).

I hope everyone has a good day

Good afternoon everyone

Much cooler here today. Still hot but with a lovely cool breeze

The council inspector came this morning. He said the part of the floor that had the cracks in would probably have to be replaced. Two thirds of the floor that entails

However he also said all the floor tiles would have to removed and that would give a better view of the floor. So it could be all the floor will have to be replaced.

He said the council aren't allowed to remove these tiles as there may contain contaminants. The council will have to use a specialist company to do that.

I will get a letter from the council telling me when this will happen

Well, the process is underway, finally

I hope your day is better than mine

Met office has a rain warning for Wednesday night/early Thursday for parts of the country:

If you zoom in on the map at the southern boundary of the yellow area it seems that they have decided to move Swindon to the north east of Gloucester

Actually their Swindon is a small place called Swindon Village which is just to the north west of Cheltenham

If you've ever wondered what the thresholds are for a heatwave they are (England only):

RegionDay max (°C)Night min (°C)
North East England2815
North West England3015
Yorkshire and the Humber2915
West Midlands3015
East Midlands3015
East of England3015
Southeast England3116
London3218
Southwest England3015

They would need to break those thresholds for at least 2 days and the night in.between.

Moonie, I hope the council rehouse you while they are removing those tiles if they think they may contain contaminants.

El, when they checked the hall ceiling for asbestos in the artex. They took a sample and had it checked and it was found to be asbestos free. My guess is that is what they will with floor tiles

Evening all.

Weather has been sunny and hot - hot enough for the tiddlers to splash about in their paddling pool.

Moonie, I agree with El and Summer, the council should move you out while the work is being carried out.

I hope you've all had a good day.

Thanks Yogi

I can't see us staying if does contain contaminants

A couple of 1940s film noirs on television today. The earlier one is on Film 4 at 11 am - the Blue Dahlia - Alan Ladd and Veronca Lake scripted by Raymond Chandler - that's a good film.

On Moveis4Men at 1.30 am this coming night is the Woman on the Beach - Joan Bennett and Robert Ryan. That's directed by Jean Renoir so that would normally be a reason in itself to watch and the Radio Times gives it 4 stars. I haven't seen it but I doubt if it's as good as it might have been. The film is rather short at 71 minutes. When I look at IMDB I see that there are indications that the film studio played around with the film - 2 cinematographers, 2 editors, 2 art directos, 2 set directors, 2 assistant directors, and 2 sound people. Looks to me that Jean Renoir had made the film as he intended, the studio people took it, decided they didn't like it, so re-did parts of it. It's unusual to have 2 sets of workers on a small scale film and having 2 editors is a very clear sign of studio tampering.

Good morning everyone.

It's raining, up here. So glad the tiddlers were here yesterday when the weather was good.

El, I'm sure Moonie will take your advice and not sniff the tiles.

I'm going out with future DiL and PB, to hopefully find a flower girl dress for PB.

Eldest son and DiL took BB to be fitted for his kilt a couple of weeks ago. Apparently, he was fine with the kilt, shirt and waistcoat but not so keen on the jacket.

Have a good day everyone.

Yogi, good luck with your search for a flower girl search I guess BB isn't used to wearing jackets yet

Thanks El. As long as the dress is pretty, PB will be happy. Last night she said, "Granny, I'm soooo excited."

BB hasn't had to wear a formal jacket before this but my youngest son said BB can remove it at the earliest opportunity, which is what he will do too.

The last really sunny and hot day here.

Moonie, that sounds as if the floor tiles are OK then but it's probably best if you don't sniff them

Yogi, I'm glad the tiddlers had the paddling pool to splash around in

I hope everyone has a good day

El, I gave up sniffing tiles.......last year
