It seems that not only do dogs have a sense of fair play but so do wolves:

Good morning everyone, the forecast is for dry weather all day but we have had a shower, I hope that's the only one.
Interesting about dogs and wolves EL but not surprising. I think the good Lord made all His creatures with an inbuilt sense of fair play.
Enjoy your day everyone
I agree, Squiggle I was a bit surprised by the article with the finding that wolves have a sense of fair play. I know they are fiction but the Mowgli stories/Jungle Books are illustrations of that.
Anyone who has ever had knowledge or experience of cub scouts would know that Akela is the term given to cub scout leaders. That comes from the Jungle Book where Akela is the leader of the wolves who look after Mowgli as a child.
My father called our tabby cat (when I was very young) Rikki-Tikki-Tavi after the mongoose in the Jungle Book,

Today's episode of Doctors was the most enjoyable piece of television I've seen this year and is definitely worth watching by everyone on iPlayer. It's nothing to do with medical matters, you don't need to have ever seen Doctors, and it's uplifting.

Afternoon all.
Hubby and I sat up most of the night - according to my activity tracker, I only got 1 hour and 6 minutes sleep - so I'm a bit tired.
We were out and about this morning and then went for lunch.
I hope you are all having a good day. Off to read back now

The most recent film I've watched from the Talking Pictures channel was one I had recorded a few weeks ago. A 1947 film called The Red House which starred Edward G Robinson. It's a black and white film which is called a film noir but has a psychological and mysterious quality about it which marks it out from just being another film noir. What is the red house, an abandoned house in the woods, and why mustn't you go in the woods in nighttime, and when you do, you are overcome with terror because of the howling sounds, and flee to escape.
That and the cinematography did remind me of The Night of the Hunter, the only film directed by Charles Laughton which starred Robert Mitchum and Lillian Gish. It's not as dark as that film and isn't as memorable but it's still worth watching.
Evening all I hope you've all had a good day the sun has been out here and it's been a busy day. I'm still glad it's the weekend again though
I'm glad you got some sunshine, Summer.
I'm shattered after being awake most of last night so I'm going to get off to bed.
Goidnight and sweet dreams, Summer and Ros.
Leaving a night owl hug in case Velvet is around later.
Sweet dreams yogi, you've done well to stay up this late!
I'm going to leave goodnight hugs for Ros, velvet & moonie and I'll be in the Darnie thread if anyone wants me
night yogi summer velvet moons
Good morning I hope you all slept well, especially after all the election excitement!
Its raining here today, it's time to get my wellies and umbrella back out
Good morning everyone
Fairly sunny and breezy here, some rain foracast for the latter part of the day. Summer, so you are going to go out splish, splash, splosh
Talking Pictures channel film of note today is a 1953 film called The Hitch-hiker, a crime thriller about two fishermen who pick up a stranded motorist. It;s a late night film which starts after midnight. What makes this an unusual film is that it was directted by Ida Lupino (British born, but moved to the States) who was the only woman of that time who was directing films in the States. She was also a film actress.
I hope everyone has a good day
Good morning everyone.
Rain overnight, up here.
El, I was checking through my Virgin channels last night and I now have Talking Pictures and will be able to record programmes.
Middle son is visiting today and he and MrY will be watching the Scotland v England football match.
I'll decant to the garden centre.
Have a good day, everyone.
Good morning everyone, a bit of a grey day and rain forecast for later. I hope you had a better night's sleep last night Yogi.
Enjoy your day everyone
That's good news Yogi about Talking Pictures now available on Virgin Media (it's channel 445). I hope you have a good time in the exile camp of the garden centre I suspect your son and Mr Y will be hoping for a reversal of the score from the match on 11 November - they will know what I mean even if you don't I hope you had more sleep than the previosu night
Squiggle, I think the weather here is much the same as yours as any sunshine has gone. It's a bit on the humid side,
One of the more extraordinary catches in cricket today:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/cricket/40233005
It's cleaer on the replay. Initially he catches it when he's the other side of the rope (which doesn't count as a catch), then he tosses it back up in the air so it's now within the rope, at the same time he goes back in the ground within the rope and catches the ball. As the ball hadn't touched the ground it hadn't gone out of play, so the catch counted and the batsman was given out.

I asked them what you meant. While son agreed that he'd like to see the score reversed, MrY asked me to remind you that he's English so he's hoping for the same score
I hadn't realised the game was on at teatime, so no garden centre trip for me.
Yogi, I was forgetting that Mr Y was Englsih - I thinks it's fair to say I can hear the screams coming from your house from here - the match is going utterly insane - if someone wrote a film script it would get rejected as being too far fetched.

There were a lot of roars.
Off to watch Cardinal. Goodnight and sweet dreams, Summer and Ros.
Ooh it sounds like it was an exciting match!
Sweet dreams yogi, enjoy
night yogi and summer
Good morning everyone
Cloudy here today.
Yogi, I'm not surprised there were a lot of roars coming from both your son and Mr Y, the last few minutes of the match were insane I wonder if Jack Butland will become England's goalkeeper in the near future. He plays for Stoke City now but while with Birmingham City he was loaned to Cheltenham during the 2011/12 season as their main goalkeeper.
I hope everyone has a good day
Good morning everyone
Showers expected most of the day.
I've got the tiddlers Monday/Tuesday on a sleepover, so I'm going to try to have a relaxing Sunday and make sure my battery is full charged.
Have a good day everyone.

Good morning I hope everyone slept well I'm taking my friends daughter to the cinema today, I'm really looking forward to it
what was the final score on the football last night? It all sounds very exciting!
Good morning everyone, a fairly sunny morning, plenty of blue sky
I hope you get your relaxing Sunday Yogi and I hope you get a good night's sleep tonight. What are you going to see at the cinema Summer?
Enjoy your day everyone
Summer, England were winning 0-1, then 3 minutes before the 90 minute point Scotland equalised from a free kick. And then on 90 minutes, Scotland went ahead with from another free kick. Then 3 minutes of injury time and on 3 minutes England equalised from a free kick. So that was 3 goals in the last 6 minutes with the final score 2-2. Hence the comments of screams from Yogi's son and husband and my comment about a film script would be rejected as too far-fetched.
I reckon that if your friend's daughter is 12 or older then the film you are going to would be either the latest Pirates of the Caribbean film or Wonder Woman and if she's younger than the sequel to Diary of a Wimpy Kid. Of the 3, Wonder Woman seems to be the best rated. The fourth option would be My Cousin Rachel though that's not aimed at children.
Meet Mr Rabbit and Mr Potato and also the present Fireman Sam:

Good afternoon Buddies
Dry day here. Warmish. Quite a stiff breeze though
I went up the park earlier to see me little babies. Not so little anymore
About duck size if not a little bigger. Quite beautiful to watch
Voracious eaters
Have a lovely week friends
Hello Moonie
It's a stiff breeze here too.
There are never any swans at the park in Gloucester as there's no water there. One would need to go to Cheltenham as Pittville Park has a decent lake so a good place for swans and ducks.
Evening all
Summer, I hope you and your friend's daughter enjoy the film.
Squiggle, I had a very relaxing day. I hope you did too.
Moonie, good to see you. Remember to upload any new vids of your babies.
El, I must admit I prefer the old Fireman Sam episodes - the ones where John Alderton did all the voices.
