I'll be out this afternoon at the course I think I mentioned some time ago - it's the making tax digital one so way above average in importance. How much of it will be news to me I don't know. As the actual regulation details have yet to be published by HMRC (they won't be until the next governement does the next Finance Act) all we've got to gone on is the HMRC consultation details unless the lecturer has got hold of some inside info. The lecturer at the tax course a few weeks ago did have inside info which was that HMRC and the party in power until the election was called had no intention of relaxing their draconian intentions.

Apparently in today's episode of Doctors, Cyril Nri played the part of Inspector Tony Callaghan. People who watched The Bill over the years would remember that Cyril Nri played the part of Supt. Adam Okaro and Tony O'Callaghan played the part of Sgt. Matthew Boyden in hundreds of episodes.

I don't often see Doctors but I caught today's episode and recognised both actors from The Bill

*night owls* well said Ros, a very shocking & memorable time, all for the wrong reasons

sweet dreams to you all, I should think you're all fast asleep by now

I'm just relaxing downstairs for a change, I'm off tomorrow so counting on a lay in. Things are a little hectic here, but I'm taking it as it comes.

El. I loved the lava video, thank you

i hope there's some plans in place regarding the hmrc changes, despite the lack of clarity over who's going to be governing it

Good morning everyone

Some sunshine here and quite warm.

Yogi, besides Cyril Nri, the other actor who you probably remembered from the Bill was Chris Walker (Rob Hollins in Doctors) - he was PC Shaw in 17 episodes in The Bill. You might also remember him in the Mersey Beat series as PC Larry 'Tiger' Barton.

Summer, HMRC are continuing working on MTD though are saying next to nothing about it.

I hope everyone has a good day

Good evening it's been a non stop hot summers day here! I'm just taking 5 before I go walk Bramble. She's been boostered for her annual vaccinations today and was not impressed with my taking her to the vets.

My house is spotless, every item of laundry is clean & dry and I've had lunch with one friend & taxi's for another! It's been a lovely day

yogi, yes I did stretch for you too, no probs, you can go ahead and eat some cake now

Got a phone call from a woman from the Telephone Preference Service saying that my TPS registration had expired and I need to reregister it.

I told her that it's just as well that I know this to be a scam and ended the call.

I've heard of this scam call before and I know that once you are registered with the TPS, the phone number remains registered - the TPS will never contact you to say that it's expired. The TPS site confirms this. The scammers would go on to ask for your bank account or credit card details and of course the TPS is free.

EL have you heard about the BBC store closing?  I have received an email which says that I can have an Amazon voucher for Amazon Video, which I am not interested in or a bank refund.  And here comes the awkward bit because they want me to enter my bank details and warning bells went off.  I will keep the email for now until you check it out because I am sure you will get to the bottom of it.  Thanks.

Squiggle, I hadn't heard about the BBC store closing but checking this, it's true. The email is probably genuine as the decision was only announced a few hours ago. There's a message about this on their site:
https://store.bbc.com/
You will see that there's a link for existing customers to find out all they need to know so I suggest you do that and they should confirm what you need to do. I'm not a customer so I can't check it out as you need to log in.

Evening all

I had a great day with PB and BB.

We spent the morning at the park, then youngest son joined us for a picnic in the garden, followed by fun in the paddling pool and a walk to a nearby farm.

Squiggle, I've had one of those email from BBC Store too. It hasn't been open very long, so I'm surprised and disappointed that it is closing down already (it the email is genuine).

I hope you've all had a good day

Each year on Ascension day, the Gloucester Cathedral choir climb the 269 steps up to the tower roof and:

Hopefully none of them suffer from vertigo.

Tourists can go up if they pay for a guided tour and youngsters under 6 aren't allowed. On a clear day the view from the roof is spectacular.

lovely EL - love it!doing the same at Wrexham  -  the parish church where we are performing St Cecilia's mass on July 1st

Good morning everyone, that was a very warm night, too hot for me I'm afraid and it's still warm this morning.  According to the weather forecast today is the same or hotter and after that it cools off, thank goodness.  It's the nights I find so difficult.  I hope you are all coping with it OK.

Enjoy your day everyone
