The local heritage railway from Cheltenham race course to Laverton has raised enough money to be able to get it extended to Broadway, Worcestershire.

They are rebuliding the railway station at Broadway which was demolished in 1963 after the line closed in 1960.

I remember going though Broadway on the steam train back when I was in junior school when we went to Stratford on Avon (the line went from Cheltenham to Stratford in those days).

That 's good news, El. I think there is something special about steam trains.

I'm going to be in the Eurovision thread for a while. Not expecting any points for us this year.

Good morning everyone

Sunshine and clouds here.

Yogi, I don't watch Eurovision but I heard on the news that we did better than the last few years.

I see from the Radio Times that the film Exodus is on this afternoon. This isn't a recommendation so I'm not posting which channel or when . It's a 1960 film directed by Otto Preminger. It's nothing to do with the biblical Exodus but is about the creation of the modern state of Israel. It's very very long - just over 4 hours with ad breaks. It's rather boring and stodgy. It's notable for one of the best jokes ever made about films when at its premiere after some 3 hours, the comedian Mort Sahl stood up in the crowded auditorium and shouted "Otto Preminger, let my people go!"

I hope everyone has a good day

Good morning, everyone.

Dry ATM, with sunshine and showers forecast.

 at Mort Sahl.

I've seen the film Exodus a couple of times and would watch it again. It would be a pleasure to watch Paul Newman for 4 hours

Yes El, our Eurovision entry did reasonable well this year.

The Portugese song which won, was dire ((IMO).

Have a good day everyone.

Slightly unusual service at my church this morning.  Sometimes there's a baptism during the service (generally a baby though recently an adult). Today, rather than being baptised, a baby was dedicated to God. I think the family may be from somewhere like Malaysia. I think that when the child is older, it will be baptised once it's old enough to understand it. Of course Jesus was dedicated as a baby and was baptised as an adult.

Wow! That man is amazing

good morning everyone raining here, but I'm pleased because my garden needs a good drink

how are you all today?

Hi Summer, all is well here.  My great grandson made me laugh on Saturday whilst I was driving him and his dad over to my daughter's place.  We were pointing out various things, he loves to do this, and I said look sheep, there was a moment's silence and then a joyful cry of cows!

Yes that was on yesterday evening's news down here EL.

Hi Summer, all is well down here. There's rain in the air here but nothing much. It's forecast to be a rather unsettled week,

Squiggle, that reminds me of the time many many years ago when my brother who would have been very young at the time told our mother when describing something he'd seen as square with a hole in it just like an apple. She never worked out what he'd seen

Summer, it's light rain here as well. I hope your trip to the garden centre was successful

I'm working on one of my clients accounts. It's a company and this is the year that the previous accounting standards are replaced with the new ones. For this company there's no effect on the profit but there are quite a lot of changes I have to do to the notes to the accounts. I have got up to date reference material to refer to but it's taking time and isn't something I can rush. At least this isn't something which has to be done each year. Much less impact for businesses which aren't companies.

That sounds like a thorough job El, well done for being so attentive to the work required

I've been to 2 garden centre's and bought a trough, and several plants. I've potted them up and then enjoyed a movie. It's been a very restorative day just the tonic I needed!

I'm going to have a bath now

i hope the rest of you are having a good day too
