My boiler man rang me to say he had been down with flu sice the beginning of the week so wasn't coming this morning - his secretary will contact me to reschedule it.

I hope Moonie's boiler has been sorted out by now or else he'll being doing overtime with his mallet

Yogi, I hope you get everything you want with your grocery shop

Summer, it's better to have a spontaneous bite rather than a spontanrous combustion

Good morning everyone, grey and cloudy this morning and I think rain is possible later and almost certain for tomorrow.  I know the garden needs rain though so I shan't moan.

I hope all goes well with the shopping Yogi and that your boiler man feels better soon EL so that your boiler can be serviced.

Enjoy your day everyone

Afternoon all.

Grocery shopping and housework are done. Now I need to clean the bird poo off my car! I feed them all year round and this is how they show their appreciation

Velvet, hope you are doing okay?

Squiggle, my garden is desperately in need of some rain. Apart from the pansies, the plants in the hanging baskets don't seem to be growing very well, and I think it's due to the lack of rain.

El, I hope your boilerman feels better soon and the service can go ahead.

Hope you are all having a good day.

I see that the Talking Pictures TV channel is showing the 1955 British film "I am a Camera" which had Julie Harris and Laurence Hardy as the leads, also Shelley Winters. (Sunday at 22.00) That film was based on a play of the same name which was later made into a stage musical which was filmed. Even if you've never seen the musical, you've heard of it - Cabaret.

Good morning everyone, I was hoping we'd get more rain overnight but very little so far.

How exciting Summer, and I'm glad you slept better Yogi.

Enjoy your day everyone

PS I discovered a helpful new internet site this morning to help identify bird songs  www.british-birdsongs.uk

Thanks for that link, Squiggle.

I can recognise a lot of birds but I'm not good on bird song, so I have bookmarked that site.

Rocking Ros Rose

Good morning everyone, we've had quite a bit of rain overnight but it's sunny here this morning.

I tried to track down a new birdsong yesterday - it was so lovely like tiny little bells - but unless you know the bird that is making it how do you track it down?  It's a bit Catch 22 isn't it?

We've got the aerial photographers around this morning making a bit of a racket.  They will probably be around in a few weeks trying to sell an aerial shot of the house, as they do all the houses in the area.

Enjoy your day everyone

Good morning everyone.

It's raining up here. I haven't said that for a while.

No problem, Summer. I hope you had a nice chat with your mum.

Yay Ros, I'm another RSPB member.

Squiggle, unless you actually see the bird, it is quite difficult to track down which bird was singing.

No problem with the cyber attack, El. (touch wood!)

Have a good day everyone.

Birds and tiny little bells reminded me of this scene from The Magic Flute.

Papageno's aria at the start refers to little bells and strictly should be playing a glockenspiel rather than a music box but you can still hear the little bells.

The names Papageno and Papagena derive from papagei, German for parrot, hence their costumes.

The local heritage railway from Cheltenham race course to Laverton has raised enough money to be able to get it extended to Broadway, Worcestershire.

They are rebuliding the railway station at Broadway which was demolished in 1963 after the line closed in 1960.

I remember going though Broadway on the steam train back when I was in junior school when we went to Stratford on Avon (the line went from Cheltenham to Stratford in those days).
