Good morning everyone

Sunny here at present. I'm off shortly to go and see that client who used to live in the middle of nowhere. It looks as if there could be rain/showers more likely on the way back rather than going.

I should be back here some time this afternoon.

I hope everyone has a good day and that the outages don't cause big problems on the forum

Good morning I hope you've all slept well, I've slept like an absolute log!!!! It feels amazing after the recent worries & extra work load, I'm grateful to be having the morning off work

the sun is shining and it looks lovely out there.

I hope you feel even better today squiggle, did you sleep ok?

El, has your client moved somewhere more accessible?

~Sparkling Summer~

Good morning everyone, I'm so glad you slept so well Summer, it does make all the difference in the world.  Yes thank you my shoulder has continued to improve, I turned the heat up yesterday afternoon to get the bedroom really warm and made sure to keep the door closed to keep the warmth in, I think that horrible cold wind might have died down now thank goodness.

Enjoy your day everyone

I'm back from my visit and having my lunch (rather late).

Ros, at least now you have less direct responsibility from having to deal with the external inspectorate

Yogi, I hope the blood tests yesterday went OK

Squiggle, I'm glad your shoulder has continued to improve, I think the weather gets a bit warmer over the next day or so

Summer, I'm glad you got a really good night's sleep and have been able to relax this morning after such a stressful week My client has moved from a stone cottage near some country house about 4 miles from Hereford they had been renting. That really was in the middle of nowhere. They now live in a house in Hereford itself.

On the way back from Hereford I missed the junction I'd intended to go down, I then turned off at the next road and carried on down there. Turning round was not an option as that would mean trying to turn right onto a very busy major road which wouldn't have been a good idea.

I went over a road which might have been the road I'd intended to go down but this is not an area that I'm familiar with. I went down the road opposite and went into the countryside. I sensed that the road would come out somewhere that I would recognise. Although a countryside road I did go past a bus stop from time to time so it was better to continue down the road rather than going down side roads which might have gone nowhere. I felt that I was heading towards Ross on Wye (and did go past a river which must have been the Wye. I did eventually come on to the main road from Hereford to Ross (which was the road I had meant to go down) just before it meets the A40.

As it turns out it hadn't taken me any longer as the road I'd gone down is straighter than the ordinary Hereford to Ross road. It's not a road I would use normally as it's rather worn in places, fairly narrow, and liable to flooding from the Wye.

Not bad, considering I don't have GPS and didn't have a map with me.

I hope everyone's day is going well. I better post this as it's gone 4.00 and outages are forecast for the rest of the day

Summer, I'm glad you slept well and hope you had a good day.

El, was that the client who lived where they had the flies?

Well done on finding your way without a map or GPS.

I don't have an internal compass. If I go in the front door of a store and come out the side door, I'm lost.

Squiggle, I'm glad your shoulder is continuing to improve.

Goodnight and sweet dreams everyone. Hugs for the night owls.

Good morning everyone

Cloudy here but probably a dry day.

Yogi, well rememebered  it was that client where their previous home was targeted by dangerious Blandford flies.

Yogi, and Summer, thanks . The main roads between Hereford & Ross on Wye, Hereford & Ledbury, and Ross on Wye & Ledbury form very roughly an equilateral triangle with each side about 10 miles. So I knew that by going in a straight line I would have to come out on one of those roads. Summer, I guess that you've got very good navigational skills with doing those long walks.

I hope everyone has a good day

Good morning everyone.

Mr Y and I did some outdoor painting this morning and then it started to rain.

El, my sense of direction is rubbish but my memory isn't too bad.

The lemon buns look yummy, even if they are out of date.

Summer, is the food talk making you hungry?

How's your shoulder today, Squiggle?

Have a good day everyone.

Yogi, it's a bank holiday weekend so that's why it's raining

Many decades ago when I was 10ish I was in Bristol with my brother and parents.  Somehow we had got lost somewhere in the centre. So I decided just to walk ahead and keep on going with my parents and brother following. We came out on to a road which we recogised. I didn't admit to them that I didn't know where I was walking to though

We should have known better, El.

I think you have an inbuilt compass.

Good morning everyone.

It's a cloudy day and threatening to rain - I'm quite pleased about that because Mr Yogi had wanted us to paint the gates today, and I really can't be bothered.

Morning Velvet, I hope all is well with you.

Youngest son's fiancÃĐe is away for a hen weekend. I got a text last night, along the lines of, "Hi Mum, you know how ****** is away this weekend.   Fancy feeding me tomorrow night?"

Have a good day everyone.

Good morning everyone, fairly sunny this morning but still a bit chillier than is comfortable.

What delicious dish will you be cooking for your hungry son Yogi?  Well done on escaping gate painting, I remember lying flat on the garden path painting our wrought iron gate - a nightmare to paint because there's always a bit you miss.

Enjoy your day everyone

Morning Squiggle.

Son suggested he would like "something Mediterranean" so I was searching for recipes this morning - but Mr Yogi is thinking of taking us out for tea, so I can have a day off cooking.

I completely agree about the wrought iron gates, they are very fiddly to paint. One of the gates is a six foot wooden one (like the fence) and Mr Y paints that. I get to paint the smaller wrought iron one - because he doesn't have the patience for it.

Moonie, this BBC article is companion to the video in your above link.

When I need to send a confidential document to a client I avoid sending it via email. I use a portal set up for accountants to send documents to clients. Although there are similar portals in use for people to use this is somewhat securer.

That's in response to a EU directive on tightening up the rules for businesses sending confidential information. Comes into force in a year's time but I'm not waiting.
