Squiggle, there's a business near Coleford in Gloucestershire which provides horse drawn carriages for weddings and horse drawn hearses for funerals covering the Midlands, South Wales and the South West, It's quite possible that the hearse I saw and the hearse you saw came from there. They also do work for films.

Good morning everyone, it's cloudy again but it did cheer up yesterday so perhaps it will again today.

I'm so glad that PB had a lovely birthday and with a party to look forward to on Saturday too.  I can't remember Yogi is she going to be a bridesmaid? And what about the wee one too?  If so how exciting!  Was your walk yesterday somewhere interesting Summer?

Enjoy your day everyone

As today is Maundy Thursday, this is where Maundy comes from:

Mandatum novum do vobis ut diligatis invicem sicut dilexi vos ut et vos diligatis invicem.
In hoc cognoscent omnes quia mei discipuli estis si dilectionem habueritis ad invicem.

That's John 13 v 34-35 in Latin from the Vulgate Bible.

And in English, it's this hymn:

Tesco has apologised for their newspaper advert for beer and cider this week.

The Reverend Richard Coles is right with his comment. Good as in Good Friday doesn't mean the opposite of bad or good as in nice/pleasant.

The above article and Wiki both say that here is some dispute about why it is called "good", with some suggesting the day is "good" in that it is holy, and others that the phrase is a corruption of "God's Friday".

I think it's Good as in Holy as this week is called Holy Week.

Good morning everyone

Cloudy here. It's possible there may be the odd light shower later on.

Summer, my brother is coming in a week's time for the weekend. Engineering work on the railways over the Easter weekend makes travelling more complicated. If the weather is OK are you intending to do one of your marathon walks any time over the next three days?

I hope everyone has a good day

I posted a few weeks ago about a couple of missions to be sent to one of Jupiter's moons, Europa, to see if they can find any signs of life such as microbes,

Yesterday, there was news that another moon called Enceladus which goes round Saturn could be more likely that there's such life.

The name Enceladus comes from Greek myths. A list of various moons and the origin of their names:

Good morning everyone.

Summer, thanks for letting the others know why I was AWOL.

I feel a lot better today and will still be attending PB's party - I may supervise from a chair if I get tired.

El and Velvet, thanks for your concern. I love you both.

Squiggle, you remembered correctly, PB is going to be a flower girl at youngest son's wedding. She is very excited that future DiL's 7 year old nephew is going to be a pageboy, as she liked him a lot when they met.

BB will be attending the wedding but everyone felt he was too young to take part in the wedding ceremony - we didn't want him to get stressed or upset.

Poor Bramble, I hope she was fine after being sick. Had she been eating dodgy stuff again?

Have a good day everyone

Good morning everyone, not quite so chilly this morning I think.

I'm so glad you are feeling a little better Yogi, don't overdo it at the party though, be prepared to rest if you feel in need of it.   Poor Miss Bramble, and poor you Summer, I hope Miss Bramble has a restful day and feels better when you get home and that you can catch up on your sleep tomorrow.

Enjoy your day everyone

I was fine, thanks Squiggle.  Plenty of time to rest, as the children's entertainer kept the children enthralled. PB had a ball!

Not sure if any of you watch Doctor Who. I'll record today's episode. My brother is likely to watch it today or in the next day or so and I'll wait to see what he thinks of it. It's more than possible that I'll just delete it without bothering to try it.

I can't take to Peter Capaldi's Doctor, although I loved the previous three.

I might start watching again, once the role has been recast (depending on who is chosen)
