Sweet dreams everyone, I'm glad our birthday girl has had a lovely day

Thank you Summer and I hope you are having a good time at your mum's.

Good morning everyone

Sun was shining when I woke and now it's raining.

I've got PB and BB coming this afternoon and staying for a sleepover.

Apparently, we are going to watch The Trolls DVD tonight - aren't I lucky.

Have a good day everyone.

Good afternoon Buddies

Its raining no its bucketing down

I managed to get out in the lighter stuff earlier on so didn't get to wet

I see the Spitfire fly past for Dame Vera Lynns 100th birthday has been cancelled because of bad weather and safely concerns

Such a pity

Hope everyone has a lovely day no matter what the weather throws at you

Moonie

Moonie, I think they are forecasting a frost tonight.

Re local steep roads. Possibly the steepest in my part of the world is Bushcombe Lane. It has a 25% gradient.

Clip of someone cycling down it - it takes about 3 minutes.

And a clip of someone cycling up it - it takes about 17 minutes.

The lane goes from Woodmancote up to the B4632 at Cleeve Hill which is the highest hill in the Cotswolds.

Velvet, I hope the boss has been checked over by a doctor. A fall down stairs can easily broken something which isn't immediately obvious. Years ago my mother fell down the stairs. It was only a short fall. She hit her hand and it was bruised. She decided not to bother going to the doctor about it. Some weeks later she was walking to a local shop. A woman saw her as she was walking and said that she was a nurse and could see that my mother had broken her hand. She then did go and get it checked out. The broken bone had reset and short of trying to break it again there was nothing that could be done. Although she had use of the hand it was never as strong as it had been.

Another piece of classical music by a little know composer, this time Alessandro Marcello's concerto in D minor for oboe and strings written around 1717, Three movements - allegro, adagio starting at 3 minutes in, and presto starting at 7 minutes in.

The adagio movement is the one you might recognise as it has been used in a few films (Lorenzo's Oil, The Firm, and The House of Mirth).

J S Bach's opus BMV 974 is a keyboard arrangement of the above. Here's the adagio movement:

By the way, when I posted the Bach adagio clip above I was not aware that the music had been used in a certain film released 2 years ago based on a certain book. I have never seen the film, never touched the book, and never will. The film and the book are famous/infamous. Obviously I know nothing about the film

I can't believe they used that lovely music in that tacky film. I assume you mean the one with lots of shades? I haven't seen it, nor read the book.

I had a lovely two days with the tiddlers. Poor BB is teething and was rather clingy but PB had great fun building a tiny snowman today.

Velvet, I hope the boss is okay after her fall. Be sure the contact the doc if you are in any doubt

Awwww poor BB

Rotten is that

Well done PB, perhaps she is gonna be a builder

Yogi, the problem is that what one person considers tacky, another person doesn't.

From a copyright point of view I think that as the music in question is many years out of copyright, if the music is performed for the film, there's no breach of copyright. On the other hand, if they are using a recording, then they would have to get permission from the record company to use it.

Good morning everyone.

No more snow overnight.

El, there ought to be a ban on using beautiful music, in tacky films.

Housework awaits, then hopefully a relaxing afternoon.

Have a good day everyone.

Good morning Yogi

Glad you had no more snow overnight

Housework, I hate it

Hope you get that relaxing afternoon
