Squiggle, I've found a video clip of the iced up house. It's used as a week-end getaway by the owners who aren't there.
Thank goodness for that EL, I was concerned.
Good afternoon a brief rain shower here soon cleared to bring us a sunny albeit windy morning
do any of you have a water butt? I've been researching them and it seems the most economical prices & resources are directly from Northumbrian water
Summer, I don't have a water butt. There was one at my parents' house. I don't know that they ever used the rainwater from it though. They might have years ago to water the garden but I don't think they ever cleaned it so the bottom of the butt must have been extremely dirty with all the silt accumulating over the years.
Good afternoon Buddies
Lovely day here. Very breezy with the odd bursts of sun. Second lot of washing out on the line. First lot already dried
Have a lovely day peeps
Great work moonie your laundry will smell amazing
el, they recommend emptying the butt during winter as frozen water could crack the butt, i think I would get good use out of watering the garden with it- especially as I'm now on a meter

Fankoo Sweet, it certainly will
We have two plastic water butts. Ex chemical containers. Steam cleaned of course. My dad got them many many years ago
Still hanging around in the garden
Hope you and Bramble have a great day
In my part of the country, there's a lower risk of a water butt freezing solid in winter as it's rare that it gets really cold. Last time was in December 2010.

I couldn't be inside that house, I'm far too claustrophobic!
Evening all.

Summer, a water butt sounds like a good idea. We get so much rain up here, I could fill a reservoir!

Thanks Moonie, the sunshine has arrived
I've taken the opportunity to do my first grass mowing of the year. As I was finishing I heard a near neighbour start his mowing so it must be catching.

I'm waiting in for the gas engineer this morning but hope to go grocery shopping afterwards.
Yogi, I hope your gas engineer comes on time and that there's no recurring problem with your boiler
He had been and gone, El, and everything is working fine.
Grocery shopping awaits!
Good morning everyone, grey and chilly this morning, hope it's better where you are. That's nice to have the boiler engineer's visit out of the way so quickly Yogi, I hope the shopping goes well, don't forget cakes for Moonie.
Enjoy your day everyone
Yogi, I'm glad that the engineer's been and gone and all is working fine
Squiggle, as you say it's rather grey and not aa warm as yesterday. I don't think we are going to get any snow here but I do remember being in Cardiff on work years ago at this time of year and there was snow everywhere. The Cheltenham Festival (with the Gold Cup) normally takes place at this time of year and that was ongoing then. Some of the other workers were following it as they had bets on. A lot of people from Ireland come to the Festival every year as part of their annual holidays and also tomorrow is St Patrick's Day.
