Work has started on restoring the ruined Llanthony Secunda medieval priory in Gloucester. It was founded in 1136.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-e...cestershire-38966548
It was created as a haven for the monks from Llanthony priory when they came under attack from the local Welsh people, That priory is at the eastern edge of the Brecon national park and is about half way along a road from Hay on Wye towards Abergavenny,
As mentioned on the news the 8.25 choo-choo from Appleby to Skipton:

You may want to make a note of Storyville on Monday 20th on BBC4 at 21.00. Storyville is an umbrella title for films & documentaries from around the world. This one is a film called Life, Animated.
It's a coming to age real life story of an autistic boy growing up and his family and how Disney animated films were used to create a language whereby the boy could express himself. It's not a Disney film though it includes clips and also its own animated sequences. So it's a part real-life part animated docudrama. It's been nominated for an Oscar in the documentary category.
It's heart-warming and inspirational. PG certificated.

At the end of each peformance the audience is given vegetable soup made from the left overs.
Warning that at the end of the clip the back screen gets a bit psychedelic so don't watch if you've ever experienced a seizure although I'm not aware if any of you have.
Are my eyes deceiving me?! a day where joe is actually doing nothing?! Well I never
evening all I've had a non stop but fun day off, including a long walk, coffee out with a friend, coffee with another friend and an evening out with the first friend!
Entertaining topics there today El how do you find these things?

Of course when I said I was doing nothing I hadn't realised the Boss was going to get a rear hub wheel puncture.
dentist today!
Hope everyone has a great day.
i believe that Toots has now left hospital!
GJ, that's good news about Toots, not such good news about the puncture, and I hope your dental visit goes well.
By coincidence I've just returned from getting a replacement filling at my dentist.
Afternoon all.
Just a flying visit to say hello. I'll be back with you properly tomorrow night.
Another local swan news item.
This swan landed on the M5 motorway in Gloucestershire a couple of days ago and was rescued by the two officers in the photo. (the police car was stationery at the time).
I've never seen the film Hot Fuzz but apparently there's a scene where the two policemen rescue a swan. One of the policemen, Simon Pegg, was born in Brockworth which is just outside Gloucester.
This has been in the news today. Winston Churchill writing about the search for extraterrestrial life.

Thanks velvet hope you're having a good evening
winston Churchill sure was a great man, and way ahead of his time. I wonder what he would say about today's state of affairs in the world
night summer and velvet
Whilst we enjoy this lovely mild weather I need to get on with a few external things. Last time it seemed to rain from October to April and I struggled!
So a huge Moin and enjoy your day!
Good morning everyone
Fair weather here.
GJ, I hope you get your external things out of the way
There may be another continent:

I hope everyone has a good day.
A local couple are getting married tomorrow. They are in their late 80s and now live in a care home in Cinderford. They first met in 1975 when she saw him outside her bookshop in Gloucester. He was looking for food in a bin opposite the shop.

Good morning everyone, a bit cloudy but I think it may brighten up.
Summer one quote from Winston Churchill is very eloquent about his views on Europe "We are with Europe, but not of it. We are linked, but not compromised. We are associated but not absorbed. And should European statesmen address us and say 'Shall we speak for thee.' We should reply, 'nay sir for we dwell amongst our own people.'"
That's not the most auspicious start to a relationship I've ever heard of EL but good luck to them.
Enjoy your day everyone
How very fitting a quote for the Brexit age

It's like mirror isn't it
I have been temporarily blinded.
Meanwhile that's my physical work completed for a few days. Later on I booked a few hotels and train journeys for July. I'm going to have a few beers and watch the tellybox - we have a few things to watch.
Tomorrow we are at home to Oxford and I will take the eldest grandson.
Have a great weekend everybody!
