I see on the Metcheck weather site that there's a 50% chance of snow in my area at noon on Christmas Day. Before anyone gets too excited, that site isn't that reliable and at the same time the forecast temperature is 10 degrees C. For that to be happen the atmospheric pressure would need to be more than 6 times normal

Didn't the dreadful Express do one of their "Millions will die in Arctic Blast!" articles?

Thats my lot - I paid someone ÂĢ80 to remove old wardrobes and general refuse having been convinced that I won't see it on a bike ride later on.

I managed to find a window technician to resite a couple of lights.

Still full of cold. On a more positive note I won the new Gerald Seymour book on the FaceBook competition

Congratulations GJ, I hope you like that book

The Express are saying it will be the worst Christmas storm ever to hit this country.
http://www.express.co.uk/news/...storm-barbara-UK-map

It may well be very bad weather but to describe it as the worst storm at Christmas ever and a superstorm is journalism of the worst kind designed solely to get people reading their newspapers.

That's typical of the daily express next week they'll predict the"hottest summer in history" again

~Sparkling Summer~

Good morning everyone

Clouding over here and a bit cool outside. Summer, it's always the same person (Nathan Rao) who does the Express's horror stories about the weather. The weather on Christmas Day is not looking good but for most of us, it will be just wet and very windy. The really bad weather looks at present as if it will affect the north west of Scotland.

I hope everyone has a good day

Scientists had discoverd a jet stream but with a difference. This one is in Earth's molten core and is of liquid iron moving at 50 km a year. That seems very slow but the liquid iron is extremely dense.

It's to do with Earth's magnetic field which is why scientists are interested. It's possible that the magnetic fields could reverse in our lifteime so that north becomes south and vice versa. This does happen from time to time. They think it's happened 4 or 5 times in the last million years so about every 200,000/250,000 years.

Met Office's warning about the storm that the Express has talked about.

Amber warning for wind gusting up to 80/90 mph for the northerly parts of Scotland, Yellow warning for wind gusting to 60/70 mph for the rest of Scotland (including Glasgow and Edinburgh) and Northern England (and also the north west tip of Wales around Anglesey). Also raining but the warning is for the wind.

I'll be having words with Barbara when I see her next at church

*night owls*

sorry to have just missed you yogi! Poor BB- I hope he gets well soon. Lol @ PB

El, our shutters are completely solid, so no one can see anything from the outside until we open at 9am. We've never changed the hours, and they are clearly displayed in the shop (which you can see from outside when we're open). I think he must have been in grump about something else and decided to take it out on me

~Sparkling Summer~

Good morning everyone

Cloudy here and rain forecast in the afternoon.

Yogi, poor BB, I hope he's better very quickly

Summer, as you say, that man must have just been in a grumpy mood and took it out on you

The client I saw yesterday morning had her young grandson there. She tolf me that he was a bit worried about Santa getting down the chimney because it had been blocked off. So I told him something I read about a couple of weeks ago. Scientists have concluded that as Santa gets all over the world in one night he must be travelling at the speed of light. The effect of that is that he shrinks in size which makes it easy to get through blocked up chimneys

I hope eveyone has a good day

God morning everyone.

Weather was wet and windy overnight but has calmed down atm.

Well done El, on reassuring the little boy about Santa and the blocked chimney.

Summer, I think grumpy is some people's default setting and you just happened to be in that man 's firing line.

Enjoy your bike ride, Joe.

Have a good day everyone.

Good morning everyone, grey and dry this morning, heavy rain this afternoon so the forecast tells us.

Christmas present wrapping is in the offing today.  That must have been very upsetting Summer I hope today is a better day with lovely cheerful customers, full of the Christmas spirit.  Oh no poor BB, I hope he is fully recovered in time for Christmas.

Enjoy your day everyone

Squiggle, I hope your present wrapping goes well A couple of years ago I used some rather paper from M&S. It was very nice and good quality but I found that there was a huge drawback. It had sparkly red glitter which came off far too easily which got everywhere. I was still spotting the odd bit of gliitter months later

Evening all, just a flying visit.

El, that panda clip is brilliant, it made me RL lol

Velvet, we had a similar problem with the tv in our bedroom. Handy eldest son managed to get the scart lead in, and the tv on the wall - but it isn't completely flush.

I'm about to start the present wrapping. Wish me luck!

Goodnight and sweet dreams. Hugs for the night owls.
