I never thought of that

What a tangled web we live in, eh?

Her ballet teacher got the parents to sign disclaimers so we could take pics and videos of the ballet display, which was fab. Fingers crossed the nursery will do the same.

I'm off to watch The Missing, and I need to concentrate.

Goodnight and sweet dreams Velvet and Ros.

Night owl hug for Summer.

*night owls*

Good evening all, I hope everyone's had a nice day

I thought my evening was going to be really quiet but I ended up doing lots of housework and hanging & decorating two Xmas garlands!

Sweet dreams yogi I hope the missing is coming to a good ending

El, I'm pleased to hear about call the midwife, i started watching it on Netflix the other day. I fell asleep though so will try again soon

~Sparkling Summer~

Good morning everyone.

Mr Yogi woke me at 6.20am to say the heating wasn't working. It is -7°C outside, so the house was freezing.

I got up and checked the pressure in the boiler and it had dropped to 0, so I repressured it and adjusted the thermostat slightly and it kicked in again - one of middle son's engineers had shown me how to do it.

Mr Yogi always calls me when something isn't working - tv, shower, Virgin box, central heating etc. I was going to say I have no idea why he always shout for me to fix stuff but I do usually manage to get things going again.

Summer, I'm sure your garlands look beautiful.

Last night's episode of The Missing was very good, all the ends are finally starting to join up. Final episode is next week and I'm hoping for a happy ending.

Ros, I bet you wished you'd stuck a tea towel on your son's head instead of using the headdress from the school.

Have a good day everyone.

Good morning everyone

Cloudy here at present.

Ros, that brings back memories of when very young at school the nit nurse would come to inspect everyone's scalps (I think there was an epsiode of Call the Midwife which had such an inspection). I never had nits - my mother always used Vosene to wash our hair.

Yogi, well done on sorting out your boiler I check up on the pressure from time to time but that has to be done before the heating switches on in the morning to get a true reading.

I hope everyone has a good day

Good morning everyone, still grey and windy. Guess what ? Yesterday I found the pond pump had stopped working and when I looked closer there was hardly any water in there! After all that rain! I think what's happened is that as the pond pump threw the water up the wind blew it out.

I'm very impressed with your fixing skills Yogi.

Enjoy your day everyone

Velvet, as you say Talking Pictures is good stuff. Although it has quite a lot which I have no interest in, it, more than any other Freeview channel, does have some good quality old films which haven't been shown before or for many years. There was a 70s film called "Who?" fairly recently which starred Elliott Gould. It's semi science fiction/semi mystery. It's very low key and rather unusual and wasn't bad for a film which I can't recall ever having been shown before. In the States it was released on VHS under the title Robo Man but it's utterly different in feel and story to the somewhat better known film of a similar title.

Afternoon troops

Baltic. Car door used to stick in this weather but so far so good with some regular WD 40. It'd open but not close. New winter rubber applied and it wasn't cheap but it does pay dividends in the white stuff. Hope all are well and Yogi we have a vacancy for a handywimmun      Good going there      Squiggs, I hope the pump is an easy fix          El - Talking Pictures is good stuff  -  I'll see what I can map out for later

Afternoon Velvet.

I once gave myself a black eye due to a frozen car door. I yanked it so hard, the top corner of the door whacked me in the face. I could actually see it swelling up out of the corner of my eye as I ran indoors to get an icepack.

I did it EL! I refilled the pond, unplugged and replugged  the pond pump and gave it a little shake

Way to go, Squiggle. We could start up a "fix it" business.

Think how the last one ended Yogi

 I need to rephrase it!

I actually intended checking the pressure yesterday, then Mr Yogi asked me to help him get something down from the loft and I forgot.

I would be a very junior member of the team, I can be trusted with plugging and unplugging and giving things a bit of a shake

A silicone spray off ebay is what I use for door rubbers in winter. You're some lassie btw

 Thanks for the tip.

I'm a bit of a plonker.

Moin Moin! A dull start but we hope for some better weather later. I have to fit in a bike ride with some writing and further work at m'son's house.

Eventually and unless something happens to me, he will have new wardrobes, decoration, curtains and blinds, carpets and beds.

As one of these Alt-right people might say, "Hail Dad! Hail work! Hail the Bank of Mum and Dad!"

(see what I did there?)

Onwards and Upwards. Enjoy your day everyone!

Interesting BBC article about Green Bank in West Virginia. The Green Bank observatory is there and is in the middle of the National Radio Quiet Zone so that it's not affected by radio signals. There's a clip about the observatory.

But becuase the area is free of radio signals there are people who have moved there as they believe that they are allergic to electronic interference. There's another clip about that.
