My brother has been able to sort his computer out without too much difficulty and no cost. I had sent him a manufacturer's support video to watch and he noticed that he had been repeatedly pressing the F11 key on boot up but the video said once a second. Once he did that he got to a screen which had an option for System Restore. So he did that. It took some time but everything is back to normal without any data being lost
Is Pluto (what was the 9th planet) a slushy pup?
Good morning everyone, grey and cloudy with quite a stiff breeze. I can spy a bit of blue sky between the clouds but I think that's all I'm going to get.
Well done on your brother getting his computer fixed. Sometimes getting into Safe Mode can be a little tricky but I am glad the System Restore worked. I usually hit F8, well that's what my computer guy told me to do but sometimes it doesn't take any notice of you and boots up normally, you just have to keep trying.

El, I'm glad your brother was able to get his computer up and running again.
Someone knocked at the door. They asked me if I used a radio (which I do) and would I be prepared to keep an online diary for one week. I was happy to as it's straightforward enough. My brother has been on the BARB panel for a number of years. That's the equivalent for televison - there's a box attached to his television or aerial and the data is automatically collected and sent to BARB.
I was given a ÂĢ5 note for this. Not bad for a few minutes work.

It's been rather damp and windy here also. Although there have been problems around the county I'm not aware of any here. Aberystwyth had a tornado and also north Shropshire. As you say it's getting colder.
I could get 200 from Virgin as well but the basic speed is fine for my needs
