GJ, I'm relieved it was menthol crystals rather than crystal meths

I hope your marmalade making goes well Marmalade was originally made using quinces rather than oranges. An old recipe on making that:
https://britishfoodhistory.wor...al-quince-marmalade/

Even as an ex chemist I am now able to reveal that Crystal Meth is not as easy to manufacture as Walter White would have us believe.

However I am an expert at marmalade or forage jam. Assuming that Lidl have some of their wax free lemons, then Co-op limes, I cheat and use a can of Marmade as a base.  I juice and then shred the other fruit. (Grapefruit renders my medications useless) my friends in Oxford have quince but we don't this far north - yet.

A minimum amount of sugar, sufficient to set, gives a resultant bitter preserved shred preparation.

Good morning everyone

It's cloudy up here too, El.

Summer, I hope Bramble had a good night and you managed to sleep too.

Ros, I'm glad the internet seems a bit better.

Joe, good luck with the marmalade.

I didn't know Lidl had unwaxed lemons. I've been thinking of making lemon curd next week  (for the first time) so I now know where to get the unwaxed lemons.

Have a good day everyone.

Good morning everyone, very cloudy here too EL.  I know a little girl who would love to make lemon curd with her Gran Yogi, the stickier the better A certain little boy might just like to join in - licking bowl privileges included.

Poor Bramble, I hope she feels more comfortable soon.  Good news about your improved internet Ros.

Enjoy your day everyone

Good afternoon a busy start here that has now gone quiet. I'm looking forward to beef casserole for lunch

oh joe that's awful news, my heart goes out to you all

bramble is doing well thank you she woke me in the night so I gave her a big cuddle and some medicine, then she went back to sleep. This morning I took her for a teeny tiny walk and she was keen, I was impressed

~Sparkling Summer~

Good morning everyone, quite a lot of blue sky this morning. That's terrible news GJ I hope 'opposite' grandpa will make a swift recovery.

Aberfan, just the mention of the name still fills me with horror. Thank goodness I know beyond doubt that each precious little one was immediately taken home by a loving God.

Enjoy your day everyone

Summer, I'm glad Bramble is doing well

I see the BBC are having 2 half hour animations this Christmas based on 5 of Roald Dahl's "Revolting Rhymes" which were twists of well known fairy tales,
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-37726518

The tales being Little Red Riding Hood, Snow White, Three Little Pigs, Jack and the Beanstalk and Cinderella. I haven't ever read them but my PB and the Pumpkin story did sort of borrow from Goldilocks & the three bears, Jack & the beanstalk, and Cinderella

El Loro

Good morning everyone

Cloidy here and it's possible there might be  a shower.

Yogi, I hope you had a good night's sleep

Yogi, when the BBC shows the two Revolting Rhymes, it might be best to record them first, watch them without PB, in order to check that they are suitable for her. The books are recommended for 5+ and the stories do contain endings which aren't the same as the originals.

I hope everyone has a good day

El Loro

Good morning everyone.

Weather is chilly and bright.

Summer, I hope you do have a relaxing weekend.

El, I will take your advice and record the Revolting Rhymes and decide whether they are suitable for PB.

We are tidying/clearing the loft today. It isn't too bad so hopefully won't take too long. Middle and youngest sons are coming to help.

Have a good day everyone.
