Afternoon all

Weather was dry and bright this morning and is clouding over now.

Thanks everyone, I slept better last night.

Enjoy your bike ride to Whitby, Joe. Will you have fish and chips while you're there?

I hope you have a lovely weekend with your friend, Summer.

El, what a palaver with HMRC. The right hand doesn't seem to know what the left hand is doing!

Thank you for the Poldark link.

I'm carp at explaining things

we went out for a long bike ride and then set off by car for Whitby at about mid-day. It would take me several hours to cycle there. Oddly enough we had a small plate of fish and chips each - normally we eat Turkish. At the end of our visit we bought a Chinese meal and ate it 80 mins later back home.

I think it was my fault for misreading your post, Joe.

Hello everyone.

Squiggle, what a shame the little one missed out on his first visit to the pool. I hope his sister can be persuaded to go into the water next time - Summer's suggestion of The Little Mermaid might do the trick.

Summer, are you on the hunt for more snowdogs today?

El, very nice musical clip.

Velvet, I love Bakewell Tart.

Moonie, hope you are feeling better?

Good morning everyone

Weather forecast is for rain for most of the day here. It's made a good start to that forecast

Fankoo for all your inquires as to my health situation. I'm not feeling to bad ta muchly

Sweet, I love your snow dogs. They are beautiful

But the little one in the last piccie is the loveliest of all

I look forward to the next batch of snow dogs

Have a super day everyone. See you all again soon

Moonie

Ohh forgot something really important

Five of the cygnets flew off Friday evening and I was there. They looked so majestic

Sadly I didn't get any piccies and my camera battery was flat and my mobile was on charge at home

At least I was there though

I had been feeding and videoing them when they was in and out of the water. Was on my way home then all of a sudden five took off and flew like the wind
Bitter/sweet moment. Really sad to see them leave their family but just so lovely they had made it. Still three with their parents. That just swam over to the other side of the pool to be fed by people over there

How could I have forgotten that

Squiggle, Amazon are showing Syberia 3 as being released on December 2.
There's the basic package:
https://www.amazon.co.uk/pqube...p;keywords=syberia+3
and a much more expensive collectors edition:
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Syber...p;keywords=syberia+3

The collectors edition has the earlier games and other things such as a Kate Walker figure.

Amazon has it as Windows 8. However on Steam it has 7,8 and 10. Steam has the basic package at the same price as Amazon but the collectors edition a lot cheaper than Amazon (though of course some of the extras couldn't be included).

I suspect that Amazon packages will include a requirement for most of the game to be downloaded from Steam rather than being wholly on DVD.

Good evening I hope everyone's had a lovely day

over the weekend, some national newspapers ran articles on a Danish concept/way of life called "Hygge", which I found fascinating. There's no actual translation, but it can be described as a way of life. It's all about getting cosy, spending time with loved ones, enjoying good food etc, and it all helps to beat those winter blues.

Denmark has up to 17 hours of darkness during winter, and yet they are known as the "happiest" nation in Europe.

When i looked in to it some more, I do already Hygge a lot! But it's nice to expand on it, and today I bought a nice glass dish from the charity shop and filled it full of pine cones. It's now the centre piece on my dining table. I also picked acorns tonight and filled 2 jars with them, they are sitting beautifully on my window sill

Evening all

Squiggle, the weather up here has been dreary today too.

Summer, I love the snowdogs, they are fabulous! My youngest son would love the penguin one.

Moonie, I'm glad you got to see the cygnets spread their wings and move on. You have watched them grow up and take their next step.

El and Velvet, I hope you've had a good day, and I hope Joe managed to clean his car and do his housework.

Summer, I got an email from a company today which are stocking Hygge stuff. I'll go check which company it was.

Edit: it was Notonthehighstreet and apparently it is pronounced Hooga

I bet your pine cones and acorns look lovely.

We'll need to check it out. Those rampaging Vikings were from Norway, weren't they? Maybe some Danes came too.

That's what I thought... well there must have been some Danish/Nords that came over here

i've just remembered that my mum knotted me a lovely blanky and it's in my cupboard! I'm going to go get it out right now

i have a wicker basket full of walking socks by my back door! Maybe I should get a little one for the living room and fill it with knitted cosy socks too.

How are you tonight btw?

I checked, there were Danes involved.

That all sounds lovely and cosy.

Talking of blankets, I need to send you a pic.

Good mornng everyone

A cloudy dampish morning here.

The Jutes, Angles and Saxons were from the Jutland peninsula before they emigrated to this country. And the Danish mainland forms much of that peninsula. So Summer, it's very possible that you have some Danish blood in you.

I hope everyone has a good day and hygges for you

El Loro

Good morning everyone, still drizzly but a bit brighter than yesterday morning.  The Danes are lovely people, similar sense of humour to us.  We went on a holiday with a school group when I was young and there were Danes and Germans too.   The Germans spoke better English than us!  And the Danes were the loveliest people, I have had a great affection for them ever since.  They are very proud of their Viking ancestors.  We visited a museum full of medieval homes - it was an outdoor museum - and these buildings had been moved there to form what an ancient settlement would have looked like.  I remember I bought a little carved amber heart from a guy who said he was one of the last who could carve amber.

That sounds a lovely dream Summer, I am still wandering around Ren Dullem trying to piece the puzzle together.

Enjoy your day everyone

squiggle

Good morning everyone

Dull and overcast here. Hopefully better later

Yogi, I was indeed lucky to see five of the eight cygnets fly off

Still three to go. I may pop up the park after, weather permitting and see how the others are. Maybe they have gone now too

Sweet, I just love those snow dogs. Really quite beautifully decorated

squiggle, am I right in assuming Ren Dullem is a book?

Have a super day everyone
