I thought you might! Was there lots of pretty things?

Mine's been good thank you I've chased bramble around the bedroom a few times and she got so excited that she nearly took off like a rocket, then ran downstairs and stayed there

Yes lots of pretty things - and lots of owl stuff.

Haha, is she hiding from you?

Good morning everyone, lots of clouds this morning but not too dull.  I hope the yoga class goes well and all the bits and bobs you have to do Summer.  I am glad you and your friend had a good day Yogi.

I'm off to get some more paint, we've run out, the colour looks lovely on - another Valspar colour - I am very pleased with their paint.  Then I shall pop into M&S - hoping for some cake - I shall waft some around in the hope that that will tempt Moonie back.

Enjoy your day everyone

In July's edition of my church magazine is this:

Scintillate, scintillate, globule ouranific,
Fain would I fathom thy nature specific.
Loftily poised in ether capacious,
Strongly resembling a gem carbonaceous.

The the victim of hospiceless peregrination
Gratefully hails thy minute coruscation.
He could not determine his journey's direction
But for thy bright scintillating protection.

When torrid Phoebus refuses his presence
And ceases to glow with fierce incandescence,
Then you illumine the regions supernal,
Scintillate, scintillate, semper nocturnal!

(ouranific means heavenly or celestial and Pheobus is another word for the Sun)
It's a version of Twinkle, twinkle using longer words.

 Good thinking, Squiggle.

Afternoon all.

I've had a busy morning but I'm now chilling with a cuppa.

I hope everyone is having a good day.

Interesting El but I agree with Squiggle, I think I prefer the original.

As do I, and also Lewis Carroll's version in Alice's Adventures in Wonderland:
Twinkle, twinkle, little bat!
How I wonder what you're at!
Up above the world you fly,
Like a tea tray in the sky.
Twinkle, twinkle, little bat!
How I wonder what you're at!

Good morning everyone

Cloudy here and there's been some rain, forecast to be sunnier this afternoon and possible heavy showers.

I had one of those Virgin emails this morning saying that because payment had failed I will be cut off on Friday unless I sort this out and click on the link in the email. I've deleted it so I won't be able to get on here as from Friday. At least that's what the scammers wanted me to think. Although the link appeared to be to the real Virgin site, hovering over it showed that the address I would have been sent to had nothing to do with them. It was a site based in Malaysia.

I hope everyone has a good day

Good morning everyone, lucky you were on the ball EL.  I always send phishing emails off to the spoof section of the firm involved so they can keep an eye on what the crooks are up to.

I saw the pictures in the paper, and I am not at all biased but (and I am sure Yogi would agree ) cute! but not as cute as our wee ones

Enjoy your day everyone

Squiggle, I would have done as you and reported the email but it was too similar to the ones they were already aware of.

I did get one of those Windows support scam phone calls last week. He tried to convince me that the line shown at the end of the ASSOC command screen was my computer ID but I knew that it's the same on every Windows computer (certainly up to Windows 7). It's a known trick played by scammers and proves that they are trying to con you as no legitimate support person would ever use that.

A client dropped off his papers relating to a collective investment scheme he had gone into. The organisers of the scheme provide him with a annual list of dividends and interest on the various units trusts held by the scheme for his tax return. The list casually mentions that it doesn’t cover any information about capital gains tax other than to tell the investor to inform their financial advisor. So I had to drop the bombshell that for each disposal there is a capital gain or loss to work out. Besides actual disposals, the scheme has monthly management charges which are financed by selling a few units – separate charges for each unit trust holding. 17 units trusts x 12 = 204 individual capital gains calculations  a year plus any actual disposals. I’ve made it clear that my fee is going to increase a lot as a result. (He hadn’t mentioned to me that he was thinking about going into such a scheme otherwise I would have warned him then).

the name Osram is derived from osmium and wolfram (which is tungsten) which were elements commonly used for lighting filaments back when the company was created almost 100 years ago. It doesn't stand for Operating System Random Access Memory

Internet connected light bulbs! I can't imagine how that works .

I think it's for those people who want their lighting turned on or off when they are out and have an app to use to transmit a signal back to their house to do that. Similar to having your oven turned on before you get home so you send a signal via your phone to home to do that so by the time you get home the oven is heated up.
