First night of the Proms tonight.
BBC2 7.30pm to 8.30pm :
Tchaikovsky: Fantasy Overture 'Romeo and Juliet'
Elgar: Cello Concerto in E minor (performed by Sol Gabetta)
Then over to BBC4 8.30pm to 9.30pm for Prokofiev's Cantata 'Alexander Nevsky'. That's a choral work based on some of the music writtten by Prokofiev to accompany Eisenstein's extraordinary film "Alexander Nevsky". Almost unique in the history of film the director worked round the music to make the film so a fusion of film and music. I'm lucky enough to have a videotape of the film where the music has been performed by the St Petersburg Philarmonic Orchestra. As the tape was released for the music peformance it has no BBFC certificate even though it's a film. The music is striking and rousing. The film is extraordinarily good, horrific in places, and is one of the most patriotic films ever made - a bit like Olivier's Henry V.

I've had this number blocked for some time but they still ring months later and are the most persistent of all of the phone scammers. They claim you have been awarded ÂĢ1,000/ÂĢ3,000/ÂĢ8,000 by the government for being a good citizen and will give you a reference and phone number to ring. Numerous reports on this number on sites such as who called me.
The scammers are probably based in India and use spoofing to make what looks like a UK number appear on your caller display. Any phone numbers given by them and any addresses will appear to be in this country, but I think the scammers use virtual offices whereby the UK number is automatically diverted to the scammers in India.

They were booted out during the week but had to wait until tonight for their interview with Emma.
Red is a good choice for a night out.
We are planning to go to the garden centre to get some roses (and another shrub) to put into some pots we have bought.
BTW, we bought two new garden ornaments on PB day - guess what they are?

El, we didn't see any Frozen ornaments, otherwise PB would have wanted them.Summer guessed correctly, the ornaments are owls. To quote PB, "We have a mummy owl and a baby owl".
