El, I should think it's a very well organised trip, hopefully the remaining missing ones will appear very soon

Yogi and myself might be heading for Lytham

I've just resigned. I think one hour is a new world record

Oh noooo Velvet

I heard one Labour Party minister lasted two hour before they resigned

So you broke that record

Good afternoon Moonie
I think I know who got soaking wet

I was wondering who would come up with Monty
You may need to avoid visiting Thame in Oxfordshire. Yesterday the town council decided to bring back stocks there. Although they say they won't be throwing rotten fruit and veg, they could change their minds.

Hi El

I am nothing if not predictable

I think the stocks would currently be red hot with MP's waiting to get their free fruit and veg

I was thinking more of the English football team

Oops, stick and wrong end of come to mind El

Good morning everyone

Cloudy here, but less risk of rain than the last couple of days.

Well done Summer on a successful apple cake

I'm seeing someone from my church this morning - they have a bit of a problem with HMRC but I've warned him that HMRC are probably right. Hopefully I can explain what's happened to him.

I've got that aorta aneurysm scan this afternoon. All men of my age get this scan.

El Loro

Thanks Squiggle

I'm back from seeing the person from church. State pensioner wiho because he was in serps gets a pension which is higher than the personal allowance. Tax never gets deducted from the regular payments of state pension. That means that he has to cough up the tax on the excess. He does have a very small annuity, some of the tax gets deducted from that but there's an automatic maximum of 50% of gross which can be deducted for tax where a K tax code is used. The annuity is too small to mop up all of the tax due on the state pension, so that's why he got the tax demand from HMRC. It's what I suspected before I saw him. HMRC are right but at least I was able to explain it. I didn't make a charge as it was minimal time and I've know him for years.

Good afternoon I hope you're all having a good day I got caught up with chores last night and didn't make it back to the forum

El I hope all goes well with your test

yogi & squiggle, phew! I'm pleased my cake looks how it's supposed to

i hope the shopping trip is going well

moonie, I hope there's some good sport on today for you

~Sparkling Summer~

I've had my aorta scan and the results are fine and well within the correct size. They said I won't ever need another aorta scan as there is no sign at all of any aneurysm

Apparently the proportion of negative results has dropped from about 4% of scans to 2% in recent years due to people having healthier lifestyles particularly in terms of less people smoking.

Good news indeed El

Thanks Moonie  I've just been on the phone to my brother to let him know. He's 21 months younger than me so will get a similar scan in due course. It's helpful to him to let him know about it as aorta aneurysms are something he'd never heard of and he was unaware of such a screening programme.

Good thinking El

Moonie

I'm glad you had a great day Yogi. Not often I catch some of the One Show. I don't know whether anyone else watched it but there was a segment about seeing 5 species of wildlife, red squirrel, seal, deer, otter and golden eagle. They managed the first 4 plus a white tailed Eagle. But the point I'm getting at is that Scotland looked MAGNIFICENT!! So long since I was there. Yogi and Velvet you are very lucky.

Thanks Squiggle - I got a preview of a very special dress.

I didn't see the programme but I agree we are very lucky to live in such a beautiful country with such fabulous wildlife.

Last week, we were driving along the M77 to Glasgow and there was a fawn grazing at the side of the road - it was so sweet.

And the service isn't all that unless you pay.

What service?

Hotels and restaurants. I've had cats try to jump on dinner tables and my room gone through at one establishment.

 I hope you complained?!

I did Yogi but they didn't care. Trying to remember the name of it. Let me look at a west coast map and I'll see if I can name it....
