Bees with number plates on them are being released in London. The intention is that people will spot them, take photos and submit them so that the bees can be traced.
Good morning everyone
It's cool and cloudy here but should get a little better later
I love the idea of bees with numbers. Come in number 35, your times up
Have a lovely day everyone
Good morning everyone, definitely brighter but still the odd raindrop here and there. We had grey clouds all day yesterday but at one point in the afternoon a little hole developed in the clouds and I could see beautiful blue sky behind it! Then the clouds closed up again
Enjoy your day everyone
We have one of those wild geranium marshmallow things. The wild bees are all over it!
Moonie, if you were a bee, what number would you like to be
Squiggle, I hope you get more blue sky than cloud - it's clouded over here now so the bit of blue sky has gone.
GJ, my parents had a large buddleia which always attracted bees and butterflies

El, number 6, though I am not a number, I am a free man
It's been a very busy morning for me workwise with clients ringing/emailing me so I'll post this well known old song (audio only)

I would have gone for number 6 as well though I'm not free as I charge my clients

Good point El
Good afternoon partially sunny and rather pleasant here today
I hope you're all having a good day
Unfortunately I haven't seen a honey be this year. They are all wild ones.
Summer, there is a bit of blue sky here again, and the weather is fair today. It could be quite wet in my area tomorrow though.
It's a busy day workwsie for me and I hope you are having a good day

How does one tell the different between a wild bee and a honey bee?
Moonie, I think wild bees are those which aren't domesticated honey bees so less likely to be in bee farmers hives.
I was doing some gardening and saw a butterfly or moth which I can't remember seeing before. When still the wings were a mix of black and pale yellow patches, roughly 50/50. However when flying it revealed crimson red wings.
Any ideas as to what it might be?
I think it may have been a scarlet tiger moth
The far end of the playing fields near me has been converted into a wetlands area and it could have come from there as the moth likes that type of habitat.
Having found this clip, I'm fairly certain that it was a scarlet tiger moth

Ahh, thanks El
Honey BEES have bodies like wasps, they are thinner and longer, darker in colour and less aggressive!
Wild bees are fatter, and harrier, think bumble bees for example. Last time we had a nest I googled and I seem to recall 200 different types!
Harrier? Damn these phone keyboards!

Thanks Joe, very informative
Sorry I missed you, Moonie.
Goodnight and sweet dreams, Velvet and Ros

That's why I'm not sure if my new residents are wasps or not. Hopefully tomorrow I will find out
Sorry I've just missed you night owls, sweet dreams
Ethat Scarlett moth really is stunning. Nature is a wonder
EL - love the bee numbers - we are singing Faures Requiem in a church in Llangollen for the Battle of the Somme - sang Faures+ Cantique /Zadok/Linden Lea/welsh hymn last week in Wrexham church
night yogi moons summer velvet
Good morning everyone.
Weather is dry and bright atm.
I finally got a chance to read back in the thread.
Squiggle, I hope you are having some sunshine today.
El, that Scarlet Tiger Moth is beautiful.
Joe, I had no idea there were so many types of bees!
Summer, I love the thread you have started.
Good luck with Faures Requiem to change mmemorate the Battle of the Somme, Ros. I'm sure your choir will be great.
Moonie, who do you think will win the Euros?
Velvet, you are right about our Ros.
Youngest son and his fiancÃĐe are coming for tea tonight.
Have a good day everyone.
Moin! My son has a jungle for a back garden. I'm going in this morning. If I find any interesting wild-life I'll let you know!

Good luck with the jungle, Joe.
Good morning everyone
Cloudy here, there's been a bit of light rain this morning, may be dry for the rest of the day though there is a lot of rain forecast to the west of me not that far away so that could move closer here.
Welcome back Yogi
Ros, Faure's Requiem is possibly my favourite piece of classical music and full of wonderful beautiful music
Morning everyone
Dull and overcast here but cool for now
Yogi, I have a feeling Gemany will win the Euros
Have a lovely time with your rellies
Have a good day but watch out for some dodgy weather conditions
Good morning everyone, good to have you back with us Yogi I am amazed at that moth EL, I always think - big and bright = butterfly, small and drab = moth!
Quite cloudy this morning and I think the forecast is for rain, not as muggy as it was yesterday which is good.
I have just received a (spam ) email to inform me that Mr Ban Ki Moon in person has awarded me $1,500,000!! aren't I lucky?
Enjoy your day everyone
Squiggle, congratulations on your windfall (not). I wonder how much the scammers would be asking you to pay for the non-existent $1,500,000. Just don't click on any link or open any attachment as it could be catastrophic for your computer.
I seem to remember that one or one of the others here had a similar email some time ago.
Good morning I'm just out running errands but I'll be back this afternoon
i hope you all slept well, feel fresh and are having a good morning
Hi Summer, I hope all goes well with your running around and that you can have a lovely relaxing afternoon.
I've just had my third telephone poll on the referendum! Has anyone else done one?
Squiggle, I've had no referendum phone calls, no visits by any canvassers, and 4 letters/documents (1 remain, 2 leave, and the electoral commission neutral one). I also got a letter back in March before the campaign started from a leave campaign group but not the official one.
