BBC Radio 3 to start broadcasting birdsong and music in the evenings as part of their commitment to slow radio,

It's worth playing the clip where Alice Zawadzki sings with a nightingale. It's quiet and you may need to turn the volume up.

Jenny Lind was not available as she died in 1887. She was a famous opera singer known as the Swedish Nightingale.

It's quite likely that you won't have ever heard Samuel Barber's complete string quartet opus 11.

It has 3 movements, the first is about 9 minutes long, the second 7 minutes, and the third 3 minutes.

Although you won't have heard the first or third movements, you almost certainly have heard the second movement either as a string orchestra version or as a choral version (Agnus Dei) which Barber wrote some 30 years later. Both the string orchestra version and the choral version are strong contenders for the greatest piece of classical music of the 20th century.

Just been to do my voting bit. Looks as if it could be a low turn out as there were not many people at the polling station - just myself and the polling staff.

I shall be heading to vote myself too El

There never seems to be many people there when I vote either but then I guess it depends on the time of day, the weather and so on

No excuses weather wise here

From my local news website today.

Down Hatherley Cricket Club have sent a bizarre property enquiry for a property purchase... they are looking for a Death Star in Longlevens in Gloucester.

The cricket club replied to a tweet from Gloucester based company, The Property Centre asking if they could purchase the super weapon.

It would appear the the classic film franchise was on the brain as people across Gloucester celebrate Star Wars Day.

The Property Centre sadly did not have any moon-sized properties on the market but have promised that they will let the cricket club know should one come along.

However, they have warned that the insurance will be 'sky high'.

Forest Green won their first match of the play offs beating Dover away last evening.  The return game at home is on Saturday. Although Forest Green will be expected that one to progress to the final, they are likely to have a harder match against the winners of the Braintree/Grimsby matches. I think it could be Braintree as they have hit form at the just the right time.

Funnily enough I watched that game last night

Good morning everyone

Late start for me here as I had to deal with an urgent client matter first thing.

Hazy sunshine here and expected to be a bit warmer than yesterday. The weekend is forecast to be the warmest of the year so far but rain and thunderstorms are expected so not great weather.

Summer, I'm glad you are home after a safe journey Bramble will be delighted to see you again

Good morning everyone and welcome back to our returnees.  I hope you both feel refreshed and relaxed   I hope your mum and dad are well Yogi.  It must have been really lovely to sink into your own bed Summer with lovely fresh sheets, I would love to be there when Bramble sees you today.  I just hope she doesn't sulk like our Ben used to, he wouldn't 'speak' to us for a few hours although he had had a lovely time while we were away.

I hope you managed to get your urgent client business sorted out EL.  Disappointing if after looking forward to higher temperatures all we get is thunderstorms and cloud

Enjoy your day everyone
