Moonie, that's a powerful version of The Sound of Silence and thanks for posting it. I associate it so much with Simon & Garfunkel in their soundtrack to The Graduate. Although I can't say that I like the film, the soundtrack is brilliant and the film, more than any other I can think of, is the clearest film which marks the end of old Hollywood films and the change to new Hollywood films. Mike Nicholls had wanted Doris Day to play the part of Mrs Robinson but she refused.

Thanks El

Doris Day?

Wouldn't have been the same, somehow

But when you consider Doris Day's comedies you can see why Mike Nicholls wanted her though she was right to refuse.

Thank you moonie we are in fine fettle indeed!

Hows your day going? Any swan sightings?

Mum looking forward to my day off tomorrow

Hi Sweet

Glad you and Bramble are having a good day

Just back from the park. Only two cygnets now

Judging by the way the swans where chasing the other two, they will be gone soon too

Nature can be cruel sometimes but such is life

Still soon be the next generation will be on their way

You have your mum staying with you then?

I had to get a new vacuum cleaner as the old one (20+ years) went up in smoke (that's true & I switched it off).

It was a cheapish Hoover Enigma which I found at a local shop. I spent much of the afternoon working out how to put it together as the instructions were not very helpful. That must be why they called it Enigma Gave it a test run to check it works OK.

Aimee, the Destroyer of Worlds and White Goods has struck again

It's hard to crack

Squiggle, thanks . There was smoke coming out of the old vacuum cleaner but no flames and I switched it off within a couple of seconds. I think if I had continued then there might have been flames.

Thanks Moonie . I don't think I'm going to put the old cleaner packing up down to Aimee as it was over 20 years old

Good morning another sunny start here- I'm treasuring every moment!

sorry I didn't get to wish you all goodnight last night, I had a very good yoga session and then had to go food shopping after, so by the time I got back home I was ready to fall in to bed

moonie, sorry that was a typo lol it was meant to say "I'm" not "mum" although we are hoping to get our schedules lined up so we can get together soon

El, I'm pleased your review is all good

what are you all doing today?

I'm meeting a friend for brunch, we haven't seen each other for about a month so it should be a good catch up

~Sparkling Summer~

Good morning everyone

Cold and sunny here.

Summer, I hope your catch-up brunch with your friend is good

I'm in the process of doing the annual independent examination of my church's accounts. That's the term used by the Charity Commissioners for a check up of the accounts of charities but isn't anywhere near as thorough as what an audit would do.

Good day Buddies

Very frosty here this morning. Just like it had snowed

Cold but sunny. Fair weather cloud now bubbling up. Banking and shopping done. Washing out 8.45

Just the afternoon to sort now. What to do? I will find something

Sweet, no probs with typo

Hope you and your friend have an enjoyable brunch and catchup

*coughs* doggy bags *coughs*

El, good luck with the church accounts. Rather you than me

At least Cheltenham have the points. Forest Green still have to get theirs

It looks like a "down to the wire" job

squiggle, I hope your day continues in the same vein

Back later

Moonie, independent examiners of charity accounts have to be people who have the relevant ability and experience. They do not have to be accountants unless it's a larger charity but they should have appropriate experience such as a bank manager or has dealt with charity accounts. Independent means that they can't be conected with the administration of the charity or involved with policy decisions.

As you say, it's a down to the wire job for Cheltenham and Forest Green. They are well ahead of other teams in the table so it looks likely that one of them will get the automatic promotion and the other in the play offs.

I hope it doesn't go to play offs El. A bit of a lottery they are

Moonie

Sweet, you enquired after the swans yesterday. Well here is a video I took several months ago...It's from the top of a small waterfall that connect the little pool, when the cygnets where born, to the large pool where they now are...

The noise is the water falling

For everyone else too, of course

I agree with you Moonie, those play offs are a bit of a lottery  Wrexham is in the same league. In 2010/11 they finished 4th and lost in the play off semi-final. The next season they finished 2nd and lost in the play off semi-final. The season after that they finished 5th and lost in the play off final. Currently they are 4th so could well be in the play offs again.
