Good morning everyone

Extremely thick grey clouds here to the extent that my very local weather site is showing 0% solar. No sign of any snow or rain overnight. The snow band is over the Cotswolds as I suspected.

As I guess you already know, Call the Midwife is back this evening with the continuation of the thalidomide story from the final episode of the last series (not the Christmas special).

I hope Moonie is able to return very soon

El Loro

Good morning everyone, heavy cloud cover here too EL, grey wall to wall.

I love Call The Midwife but I have to say that I am not looking forward to the continuation of the thalidomide story.  I am old enough to remember the tragedies of the time, at a time when I was a young woman and it still fills me with horror.

Moonie I hope you are feeling a little better today and will be back with us soon

Enjoy your day everyone

squiggle

Good morning everyone.

We still have some snow - enough to build a snowman, if I were so inclined.

Nice swan pics, Fluffs. Let's hope they encourage Moonie to return.

I hope you're feeling better, Moonie.

I love Call The Midwife and am looking forward to its return, but I understand why you find the thalidomide storyline upsetting, Squiggle.

El, I hope your grey day brightens up.

Have a good day, everyone.

And pictorial evidence will be required!

It was tempting but I resisted. Got this pic from Photobucket instead.

Sounds declicious, Summer.

There are quite a few snowmen in the gardens around here, and we've seen several kids and dads going sledging.

Good morning everyone

Another extrememly cloudy day here and a bit damp. Tomorrow being forecast to be a sunny (though cold) day.

Yogi, I hope your new antibiotics are working properly
Moonie, I hope you are recovering from your "man flu"

Summer, I hope you didn't miss anything you desperately wanted to see when you fell asleep

El Loro

Squiggle, I hope your tonic for Moonie helps

Summer, I've been recording War and Peace as well and haven't seen any of it yet. I was watching Endeavour which is on at the same time. The climax of last night's episode was quite something to say the least.
Although I've got quite a lot of work to do over the next couple of weeks it's under control. It looks as if the only client who will miss the deadline is that one I've already mentioned. I've just looked at his trial balance online and see that there's still the same number of unexplained bank transactions as there were when I last looked. So it looks as if the client has given up.

I don't know if you've seen the trailers for the next series of Vera which starts on 31 January. I think these trailers give a false impression of what the series is like as they seem to me as more suitable for some hyperactive action series.

Morning all

We still have quite a lot of snow, even though it feels like there is a thaw. It's foggy too.

I've been painting the doors in the hall and landing. Five done, with one to go and the skirting boards. Got to get it finished before PB comes on Wednesday.

I'm watching last night's War and Peace while I eat some toast, and I've recorded Endeavor for later.

I like Vera, and I know what you mean about the trailers, El.

I've been working on a client's rent accounts for HMRC for 2014/15. He dropped off the papers over the weekend. He's waiting for his mortgage interest statement for the let property. As it's an interest only mortgage, if he doesn't get the interest statement we could use the payments he's made during the year so he emailed me copies of the bank statements. It looks as if he has a separate bank accounts for the rent so there's not huge amounts of payments going out.

He had included a council tax bill as the property was empty for a period of time. I noticed that it only covered April and May 2015 so will go into the 2015/16 rent accounts. So I thought I'd have a look at the bank statements to see if I could spot any payment for this before April 2015. I didn't find any but it's just as well I looked.

He used a different letting agent for 6 months during 2014/15 from the one I knew about. The agent statement he gave me was for only a few months as it had been empty. But not empty for as long as I thought at first.

I've sent him an email asking for more details about this 6 months and said that HMRC would not have been happy if this had been omitted.

*night owls* I've just got home from a lovely girlie catch up with a friend, we chose a dog friendly pub so that Miss Bramble could join us. The food was lovely and we sat near an open fire, it was very cosy

El, thank goodness you are hawk eyed when it comes to accounts! Your clients are fortunate to have you.

yogi, lol at CBB- thank goodness for the thread I hope all is going well with the decorating and I'll keep my fingers crossed that you have it finished on target

i hope the rest of you have had a good day. Leaving night owl & get well hugs

Moin! Especially to you El Loro! I hope you get your sunny day.

Do you remember the news articles about three monthly online tax returns? The other night we met our accountant who was out walking his dog. He reckoned he hadn't seen anything official and used the expression, "I don't know where that came from!" Do you reckon it was a myth picked up by the papers?
