Good morning everyone. There's an icy wind blowing outside and I heard the "S" word mentioned again in the weather forecast.
Skylark, my gardening expertise is very limited but the following plants look nice in planters (for summer flowering):
petunias
begonias
fuschias
violas
artemesias
pelargoniums
Not too sure about the greenery - perhaps some nice ferns?
I tend to buy plug plants or bulbs as I find it easier than growing from seed - but it is a bit more expensive.

Good afternoon everyone. It is another sunny day here today but there was a really hard frost this morning.
I've been researching hotels in London for September and they are SO expensive. We could travel back and forth, and would so if it were only for one day, but as we want to spend three days/two nights in London travel each day would not be nice and would probably work out quite expensive for fuel!! Anyway I've booked us into a Premier Inn, which are usually quite clean and are fairly modern. At least we now have a booking and I can, if something else comes up, cancel right up until 1.00 pm on the day of arrival withour penalty.
Will hopefully be back a bit later to see what you've all been up to.
Hi Joyron
Shopping around for hotels in London is no easy task. At least you can cancel the Premier Inn booking, if you find something less expensive.

Thanks El and squiggle for your advice on my ongoing computer probs
Thanks Yogi for info, writing it down
Hi Joyron, try looking in Booking.Com, i always use it, rather than booking an hotel direct. It can save you lots.

We better make the most of Waking the Dead because this is the last series. The BBC has axed it due to the cost even though it is popular. It seems that Trevor Eve is the highest paid BBC actor.
However the Tara Fitzgerald character will appear in a spin off series called The Body Farm. It will be produced by Trevor Eve's production company and written by Declan Croghan who also wrote Waking the Dead.

Thanks for that El. BBC doing what it does best, getting rid of the good shows and keeping the rubbish

I wouldn't be surprised if quite a lot of people get upset about this and may launch a campaign to get the BBC to change their minds.
I think its long overdue for the BBC to get a good swift kick where it hurts. They are bloated and complacent and far too keen to splash our hard-earned money about on their pet projects. They used to provide all the best shows but its been a long time since they could claim that.

Disgrace WTD is getting the chop
It is a disgrace, Velvet, they keep chopping all the good drama series.
No more WTD or Rebus and ITV have chopped Wire In The Blood - I'm fed up.

Hi, how are you all this evening? Son is out watching the football, i try to be supportive, but i care not! (dont tell him i said)
Evening Skylark.
I've been evicted to the bedroom as the males in the house are watching football.
I wouldn't mind, but it isn't even their team.

I've never watched River City, Skylark. I think a few of the soaps have rubbishy storylines, ATM.

Middle son is football daft, he would watch it round the clock, if he could.According to him, every match is important, for one reason or another.

I know Yogi, i could write the storylines better...i missed my vocation
For a start, we could bump off Tracy Barlow and have a "whodunnit" storyline. We wouldn't be short of suspects.

Good morning everyone.
A fine covering of snow and very chilly up here. According to the forecast, there may be more snow on the way.

Let's hope not, the met office website seems to show the worst of the snow is to the north of you. A fine covering of snow and very chilly up here. According to the forecast, there may be more snow on the way.
I hope you are right, El.
I am watching a DVD on common and garden birds ('cos I'm bored stiff atm) and the narrator's voice is so monotone, he is sending me to sleep.
Oh well, I might save if for nights when I have trouble sleeping.

Hi I am home early again this is great! We are having a series of meetings, and today the speaker , who was the main part, called in sick, so it was abandoned.
Sorry Ros must have just missed you last night
Sorry to hear you have had snow Yogi, we dont have any here, but lots of cars this morning had snow on them, so it must be snowing on the outskirts. Its very cold tho

It's nice to get an unexpected early finish, Skylark.
We've had some snow/sleet this afternoon, but it isn't lying, thank goodness.
