Moonie, I'm glad you remembered your wallet the second time
Are you getting something special for the swans and cygnets for Christmas day

Thanks El
My body got up but my brain stayed in bed
I have some special swan and duck feed which I just tried on them. They hoovered it up
Its in a pellet form and its floats too
I will give it a few days and see how the get on with it. It is recommended by reputable swan sites
So I guess that will be their Christmas Day feed too
Power cut in my area- lasted about 20 minutes. Luckily I had just finished cooking my lunch.
Good afternoon
oh moonie hehe, if it helps, I've done that too in the past I hope you didn't have too much hassle going back for your shopping
squiggle, it's an interesting show, but it does show the difference between us regular folk and the super rich
I've picked up gifts, done some grocery shopping and maintained my car; petrol, air in the tyres, washing it and renewing the insurance
best of all, sainsburys had a half price 7ft green Xmas tree which I bought using only nectar points! That's my tree for next year taken care of and it didn't cost me a penny
Welcome back El, do you know the cause?
Summer, you've been busy and well done on that bargain
That power cut also hit the city centre, Boots had to ask customers to leave as the alarms were triggered. All Western Power Distribution had to say was that there was a fault in the area. Hardly informative.
I am glad the power cut didn't last longer EL. Well done Summer a busy and productive morning.
My conclusion on watching that show was that too much money turns you absolutely bonkers, and that seems to extend to the people who attend their every whim. Give me love and family and being able to make a difference in even a small way any day of the week.
Thanks squiggle
Of course Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol is very much in line with your comments on wealth and family. He wrote other Christmassy novelettes. For instance The Chimes which is set on New Year's Eve. If anyone is inclined to read it : http://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/653
With my council we have to pay extra if we want them to collect garden waste. I normally pay annually around September and this time the council said that they were standardising the payment date so that everyone would pay (as it happens coinciding with my existing date). So I rang them late September to set up a direct debit. They would send me a sticker for the wheelie (to show that I'd paid) but that it would take a few weeks to arrive.
As I haven't received a sticker I thought I would have a look at my bank account. No sign of it having gone through and no sign of it on the list of direct debits which I can view online.
So I rang the council who rang back. Due to a computer problem all data around that time had been lost so that not only did the direct debits not go through but they have no details as to who had contacted them to set one up. I along with all the others were just shown as unpaid. I've paid it by debit card (to avoid a surcharge) and they'll send me a direct debit mandate to complete. They'll also send the all important orange sticker for the wheelie. Any wheelie which doesn't have that sticker won't get emptied.
I wonder just how many other people are affected and have no idea that their direct debit never went through.
I hope no one has lost out on payments because of lack of records, I really don't this system of paying extra to dispose of garden waste
Summer, I think those who have missed out may only realise some time in the New Year that they've put out the garden waste wheelie to be emptied and find that it hasn't.

That's the standard reply, isn't it El?
And I've just checked on my local news site and Western Power haven't said anything since.

Evening Yogi
Did some wrapping yesterday and almost had a seizure with non compliant sellotape. And I used to enjoy it an all.
Evening Sweet and Moons - hope we're all fine and dandy
Eveni g Velvet.
I always end up battling with sellotape - even those easy dispensers don't work for me.

Hi Velvet
I had the same problem with the sellotape the other day too Velvet. It seems to have a mind of its own sometimes
Hope you have had a good day
