Good morning everyone

Very cloudy here and likely to stay like that for some time. Might get a bit of rain but nothing much.

Yogi, I'm glad yo had a pleasant time with middle son and DIL

Summer, well done on cracking the mysteries of PMs (with Yogi's help) I know what you mean by the snow making it lighter. There's no sign of any snow in my area in the forecast.

Good morning everyone.

No snow up here but there's a pretty frost.

My heating didn't kick in this morning, but gas engineer Yogi fixed it. The pressure needed adjusting and the thermostat needed a tweak. Mr Yogi was quite impressed with me.

We both commented how cold our house was without heating, but how much worse it must be for people living on the streets in this weather.

Have a good day everyone.

Good morning everyone, I hope are enjoying the snow Summer - will Bramble like it? Is there enough to build a snowman?

Goodness you are all so clever with your boiler adjustments, I just hope mine keeps going

Remember I said about that big push to collect for the homeless down here in the South West?  In our area alone there were over 8,000 bags and boxes collected.  The end result is that everyone who finds themselves homeless at the moment will have a Christmas present to help them keep warm, keep clean and maintain their self respect.  And they will know that people care about them.  In the larger area they have run out of places to store bags and boxes, the hand outs have started and people are so thankful.  There has been enough left over to send to other areas and even to those flooded out in Cumbria.  People are wonderful if given a chance to help.

Enjoy your day everyone

Well done engineer yogi thank goodness you could fix it. Funnily, I had to top up the pressure in my boiler yesterday.

It really must be awful for people who cannot afford heating, or those who have to sleep rough

One of middle son's engineers showed me how to fix it the last time it happened.

It must be horrendous for them.

Middle DiL was telling me last night that the cafÃĐs up here which operate a "pay it forward" service - when you are paying for your bill you can add the cost of a hot drink, or soup or meal to the amount and then homeless people can come in and get a free drink or meal - and made arrangements for people to donate ÂĢ5 tomorrow on a site, which will be used for homeless people to have a Christmas dinner. Thank goodness for charities and things like this.

Indeed Squiggle. Often, I think people aren't sure HOW to help.

I agree Yogi, the appeal was set up by a young girl who just wanted to help and she has been staggered by the response. I think we have all been touched and I am pretty sure that it has been a comfort to those who find themselves in that sad position.  There are pictures of some who have been helped and I have been shocked by how young some of them are.  There was one young girl who looked to be in her late teens, with her dog.  Keeping herself clean and decent though homeless but as a mother I can't help but worry that she surely isn't safe out there.

I would imagine the streets are a vary scary place to live

Squiggle, a Gloucester woman set up a showbox appeal for the homeless - http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-e...nd-somerset-35015155

It's nice to see that it is spreading across the country EL.  It warms my heart to know that people will see that people care for them, and on a practical level to receive warm clean clothing, the ordinary things of life that we take for granted like toothbrushes, toothpaste, deodorant  etc.  I included some posh chocolate biscuits from M&S in mine as well as some sweets.

The Olympics in Rio is months away but I noticed this tennis story a couple of days ago relating to the mixed doubles. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/tennis/35076623

Just imagine a final with Andy Murray and Laura Robson (a repeat of the London final) playing Roger Federer and Martina Hingis. That could be the most popular mixed doubles match of all time.

If you can't remember Martina Hingis, just watch

Although she doesn't play singles now, in doubles she's right at the top. (and she's still got that smile 18 years later)

Is the tennis on now?

No, I was  thinking ahead to the Summer Olympics in Rio next year. The tennis season has finished and restarts next month - the main event then being the Australian Open.

I'm glad had a lovely walk even if you couldn't build a
