What are you watching tonight? I'm watching a Christmas movie I recorded earlier.

Was German footie now rugby with the sound turned down and the radio on

Which movie Yogi?

One that was on True Christmas channel earlier. I can tell how it's going to end.

Oh right

I've watched so many, I could write the script.

They are all a variation on a theme, aren't they Yogi?

Exactly!

I'm starting to wilt so I'll say goodnight and sweet dreams Moonie.

Hugs for the night owls.

Good morning everyone

Cloudy and rainy here and forecast to be like that most of the day. The rain is fairly light so not expected to amount to much.

For those who like Christmassy films Channel 5 are showing 3 today which they claim haven't been shown before. Just don't expect anything hugely original from them.

Fine fettle means in good shape. Fettle originally meant a strip of material or girdle used to get dressed for battle, originating from the German word fessel meaning chain or band. Similar to the phrase "gird your loins".

El Loro

Moin! Round these parts it's in popular use as a verb!

For example, if m'wife, whose name escapes me, had accidentally changed a page on the old PC and was struggling to restore it, then  in the unlikely event of me fixing the problem I would say, "There! That's fettled it!"

El Loro! The  real reason I appeared here was to mention the three monthly accounting system. I note one of the tabloids has it on the front page. I hope something can be done!

Not raining atm but it's not far away.

Thanks for the heads up about the Christmas films, El. Most of them tend to be formulaic but now and again you get a golden nugget.

Writing my Christmas cards this weekend, and hopefully posting them on Monday.

Have a good day everyone.

Good morning everyone, threatening grey clouds but not much rain, so far.

I am knee deep in Christmas movies too, they are comforting in their familiarity. Which brings to mind something else.  Yogi this is for you, I should have thought of it before.  A couple of weeks ago I came across this link and pointed it out to my grandson's girlfriend for her daughter.  They send a video personalised for a child from the real Santa This link might take you to the one they sent for that child, I can't tell but they are really thrilled with it and I think it's such a nice idea.  My step granddaughter is 4 years old

I hope everyone is feeling tickety-boo and everything is going well with your Christmas preparations, enjoy your day everyone

I heard that on the radio news - this is the article - http://www.dailymail.co.uk/new...four-times-year.html. There are errors in the article. The proposal is that the self employed etc will be required to file as from April 2018, not 2020 as stated. It will be more than 4 million people affected. There's 4.6 million self employed, and anyone else who has income such as rental income will be affected if the income is over ÂĢ10k a year. I think it will be over 6 million. The article says that big companies file quarterly returns. That's wrong - they have to pay tax quarterly.
However the chancellor is deluded if he thinks that his proposals are realistic. Fine if people have the choice to do it that way. Absurd if they are compelled to.

Summer, I heard on the forecast that it might snow in places further north than me. I hope it doesn't cause problems on the roads for you.

Moonie, it's still rainy and windy here but it's not very bad, just a bit unpleasant. I hope you enjoy your footie. Cheltenham's match today is in the first round of the FA Trophy, the competition below the FA Cup. Home to Chelmsford City who are in the National League South, so Cheltenham would be expected to win quite comfortably if they play with their senior players.
