This was on the BBC news just now about someone claiming to have found another portrait under the Mona Lisa. There's a programme on BBC2 tomorrow evening about it.

It would hardly be the first time an artist painted over a painting they had done because they weren't satsified with their first attempt. So to me it's irrelevant if there is or is not another portrait underneath. The Mona Lisa is the Mona Lisa as that's what the artist intended and is what we all know.

I am not sure of the current worth of the Mona Lisa but what would they intend to do? Remove the Mona Lisa to reveal the painting underneath? Hardly, otherwise why make a fuss, as Summer says they do love to dramatise everything.

I managed to get a few gifts when I was out and about and I've ordered some other things.
My online shopping has gone wrong this year! As well as the Groupon voucher issue (nice lady at their customer service gave me a refund) I've now had an email from Boots saying they can't fulfil my click and collect order.
I loved the link to the model train story, El. That was a real labour of love.
I agree with everyone about the non story re the Mona Lisa. Who cares what's underneath!

It seems to me that sometimes the BBC has items on their news which aren't news but effectively a trailer for one of their programmes. That's the case with this Mona Lisa story and it's not the first time they've done it.
Another client has rung me and is on the way to see me as I type so must dash as he could arrive any minute.

I think viewers have previously complained about the BBC running trailers for programmes, under the guise of a news story.

El, it went dry and calm but now it's very cold and windy. I think we are in for a frost tonight
Re the Mona Lisa, there has been speculation for years about every aspect of the painting. I think there always will be. So called "experts" will find whatever the want especially if there is a lucrative book deal in the offing
