Good morning everyone

Although there is some fog here, much less than this time yesterday and looks as if there will be a fair amount of blue sky. All change by tonight.

I wonder if there will be any slightly unusual items brought by people at church for today's Harvest Festival. I think one year we got a tin of custard powder.

As I post this, the fog has rolled in. Hopefully it will go as quickly as it came.

Good morning everyone, lots of high cloud here too, and definitely a little chillier.

That sounds a good day Yogi, will you have lunch out too?

Summer what I find slightly disappointing when the Christmas movie channels start is how many of the films shown I have already seen

I hope the fog clears up for you EL and that you enjoy the Harvest Festival service.

I hope you are feeling tickety boo today moonie.

Enjoy your day everyone

Good morning everyone

The sun is out here and I am now almost back to what passes for normal

El, are those miniature pumpkins I spy in that basket of fruit?

Squiggle, thank you and I hope you have a lovely Sunday

YogI, I hope you have a good time out and about with Mr Yogi

I wonder what I can get upto today

Have a great day friends

Moonie

The fog has cleared here during the morning.

It was a good Harvest Festival service at church and there were brownies and guides there so the church was full. We must have had the largest quantity of harvest produce (and tins) we've ever had. They will go to the local food bank and some local parishioners who are thought to need them.

Moonie, they could be mini pumpkins in that picture - they do exist:

Thanks El, you are a mind of useful information

Talking of old films, I've just look at the schedule for this coming week for that Talkign Pictures TV channel (Freeview 81). The 1941 film "The Devil and Daniel Webster" is on Tuesday from 16.05. It has been shown from time to time on other channels but is worth watching if you haven't seen it before and want something rather different.

The description given is "Starring James Craig as Jabez Stone. As a down-on-his-luck New England farmer, Stone makes a deal with the Devil to give up his soul for seven years of prosperity and good luck."

The real stars of the film are Edward Arnold as Daniel Webster and Walter Huston as Mr Scratch. Walter Huston's performance is extraordinary and Edward Arnold's magnificent.

I love that harvest festival pic

Yogi I hope the garden centre has lots of beautiful delights for you today

Squiggle, I know what you mean, new films are lovely aren't they. I do feel watching old ones is like being reacquainted with an old friend though

I know what you mean and I do have some lovely old 'friends' lined up to watch again including the original King and I, Four Weddings and a Funeral, Finding Nemo and some original Disney films.  It has to be a special film for me to want to watch it again, same as books.  I am re-reading Evening Class by Maeve Binchy and enjoying it just as much this time.

Good morning everyone

Very overcast here and some rain forecast today.

Yogi, I hope you have a good day with PB

Your dream must have been influenced in part by the antics of squiggle's Mr Badger, just on a much larger scale.

I'm taking my car in for the annual MOT/service shortly and expect to collect it later afternoon.

Awaiting PB's arrival.

Weather is dry but chilly.

I had a weird dream about a huge bull, then a horse, leaping over a fence into my garden. They didn't half make a mess of the grass!

Have a good day everyone.

Good heavens Yogi that's even worse than my badger! Thank goodness it was all a dream.

Good morning everyone, a very blustery morning with fast moving mainly white clouds, some grey ones just drifting over.

Enjoy your day with PB Yogi. I hope there are no unforeseen problems with the MOT EL.

Thank you squiggle I'll let you know about the MOT/service later today when I have some info.

I got confirmation from Virgin Media this morning that the speed increase update has been done so I did a speed test to confirm this.

Download 74.06 Mbps (it was about 53 before)

Upload 5.09 Mbps (it was about 3.4 before)

So about a 40% increase for download and 50% for upload.

My setup is wired and speeds do seem to suffer a bit with wireless so my results are at the top end of the advertised speeds.

Afternoon everyone

I awoke this morning and it was pitch black. Decided not to look at the clock. Rolled over. Awoke again and it was still pitch black. Looked at my watch this time and it was 9-00am

More like 9-00pm

Rained overnight and is still raining now. Not heavy just persistent. Though as I type it looks like it may brighten up

No shopping to do today so no need to go out

Yogi, I hope you have a lovely day with PB

You haven't been to Birmingham town centre and seen the Bullring Bully lately have you, hence the bull dream

El, hope your car passes its MOT with flying colour. My bus pass doesn't need an MOT

Squiggle, hopefully Mr Badger hasn't paid you any unwanted visits over the weekend

Sweet, I hope your day is a quiet one but not to quiet as to be boring

El, how do you find the current speed of your broadband?
I am with Virgin and mine is advertised at up to 152mbps...

Moonie, it was dark here this morning (7.15) but not pitch black like for you. There's likely to be more rain today.

Thanks re the MOT I think the service will cost more this year as they are doing a full service but I'll see.

My broadband speed was 50 which was adequate for what I do and 70 is a nice increase. I don't do much in the way of large downloads and live streaming so don't feel inclined to pay more to get it faster at this time.

El, when the last rise occurred I rang Virgin and said if they couldn't do something, as I felt the rise was somewhat unjustified for no extra services, I was going to change my service provider. I was on the  'up' to 30mbps at the time. So they the said they would up my speed to 'up to' 152mbps so that kept me with them

I think Murder at the Vicarage may be a repeat in that case. If it was on Radio 4 extra then that is likely to be the case. The Miss Marple's Final Cases were mentioned on Radio 4 in the last couple of weeks which is why I was thinking of those. If I'm right they almost certainly are still on iPlayer as they are recent.
