Afternoon all.

lol El, I guess he'll have to get it right at some point.

Gues which Silly Billy went out without a jacket and got caught in a heavy shower?

We'd dropped off hubby's car to have some fancy chrome bits put onto his car lights (must be a man thing ) and went into town to do a bit of shopping.

I managed to get a nice hooded dressing gown for PB when she stays overnight - one less thing for DiL to pack for her.

It had been sunny when we left the house, but just as we started to walk back to the garage, the sky went grey and the heavens opened.

I hope you have a great day also.

It's pouring down at present but not expected to be as bad later this afternoon.

Hi El

Fankoo

Not looking like much good weather here all week tbh but then it is Autumn going on Winter, so I suppose it is to be expected

Much the same here though may be better later this week.

At this minute, it's stopped raining and there are little bits of blue but there's still some rain to come in the forecast.

The weather here is now wet and quite windy, cold too. I managed to get out and shop whilst the weather was just drizzling

Mr Potato Head is in Belper which is where one of my aunts used to live.

I already knew about the red statue (only 4 foot high) of Karl Marx as it now is in the Guildhall in Gloucester. It was a gift from Trier (twinned with Gloucester) which is where Marx was born.

The Michael Jackson statue was errected by Mohammed Al Fayed outside the Fulham Football ground, If I remember rightly...

Moonie

Good morning everyone

Fairly cloudy here, showers forecast this afternoon.

Moonie, Al Fayed got the Michael Jackson statue removed at Fulham becuase it was thought that the statue had caused Fulham to be relegated

I have one of those tax courses to go on this afternoon. There have been a lot of changes as a result of the latest budget and I'll need to keep awake

Thank you squiggle and Yogi re the tax course. There will be a lot in the course to take in but they always give out course notes to keep. Last year's notes were 45 pages long. It wouldn't surprise me if it was longer this time.

Yogi, I hope the delivery is sooner than later so that it frees you up

I did see your iphone problem thread you made but nothing comes to mind. If the problem started when CBB began then it could be something to do with the twitter feed but from what you said it seems to have started more recently.

That's a lot of reading, El.

I rarely use my phone to access the forum so I'm not sure when the problem began. I first noticed it when I was waiting to meet my friend last week - I'd arrived early (as usual) and thought I'd read the forum while I waited.

Instead of the normal layout, there is only text and nothing will open up. I can sign in amd see a (text only) forum directory, but can't get any further.

On Sunday, it was the same during the day, but worked properly when I checked in the evening. Yesterday, it was wonky again.

I have no idea what's going on, as every other site I use is working fine.

Yogi, so it could be to do with the twitter feed. When that's running there's constant activity over the internet between the website and your iphone compared to when it's not running. It sounds as if the html code for the webpages isn't being rendered properly which is why you just get text. Not that I have an answer for this.

Hopefully the problem will go away and if it is caused by the twitter feed that will be ended once CBB is over on the 24th.

The lecturer at the tax course this afternoon is one I've heard before. He has quite a good way of ensuring that everyone is listening to him. He uses lots of examples during the course and asks different people for their first names so that he uses their names in the examples. For instance there will be a session on the way that dividends will be taxed from next April so he might ask me foe my name and then in his example "El dosesn't believe in paying national insurance on his profits so has set to a company and takes eveything out in dividends rather than a salary. He's in for a nasty shock when he discovers that he's going to have to pay an extra 7.5% on his dividends in future".

 That's a good technique.

Well one of us must have got our wires crossed, I got to the dentist to be told I wasn't due for another two months.  Oh well I got some bits done while I was in town.

My that's a lot of reading EL, that lecture technique sounds very good.  Yogi I hope you get your phone problems sorted out quickly and that you delivery arrives promptly.
