Good mornng everyone

Fairly cloudy here, there may be showers later but nothing much. 1 September and it's cool enough for my central heating to come on first thing (though off now).

For the last few months I have been getting my milk delivered. It's supposed to be delivered by 7 am though there have been a few times when it's been more like 8.30.

Yesterday's milk did not arrive. Rang customer services at 9.30 and was told milman still doing his round and if not delivered by the afternoon to ring back.

Not delivered by 2pm so rang again. Milkman still doing his round, to ring back if not delivered within an hour, report it as a missed delivery, and they would investigate it.

Not delivered by 4 so rang again. Was told milkman had not yet returned to depost. I said I'd rung twice and was advised to report as a missed delivery so it could be investigated. Was told to wait for the milkman to arrive,

Obviously the milkman never arrived.

Cancelling the milk with immediate effect.

Squiggle, as I never saw my milk being delivered I don't know if they use a milk float. May be the milkman has done a runner in the milk float never to be seen again

That song is very moving. Your clip can only be watched on Youtube:

Disney are very watchful over their films over what gets on things like Youtube. I think if someone uploaded a complete Disney film on Youtube it would get taken down within minutes.

By the way my smartmeter conversion saga coninues.

Since the gas meter was commissioned last Monday, my online account with British Gas shows that daily data was shown for the first 3 days and none since. Also the electricity meter daily data which was shown right up to the day the gas meter was commissioned has shown nothing since.

I have reported this and should get a reply within 5 days. Unclear as to whether the problem is here or at British Gas - the transponder device here which transmits the data is showing 3 green lights which is what should be happening.

Yogi, I'm glad all went well at the nurse and hope the results are satisfactory

I only started getting the milk from the milkman in April to support a local person but it's no use if it's not reliable. Luckily I had some in so it didn't cause me problems.

I don't know if my smart meter problems are typical or rare. I do know that my house is a black spot for some mobile phone networks but that should not be the cause as the smart meters can use a variety of networks. I also know that some radio frequencies have difficulty in getting through walls in my house which is why I have to have the boiler thermostat near the boiler. That could be what's happening though the elcetricity data was getting transmitted before the gas meter was commissiomed. I did tell the engineer about this when the meters were installed.

When my youngest son moved in with his fiancÃĐe, he couldn't get a signal from Vodaphone in the flat and had to change networks. I wonder why this is the case? Too far from a mast, or might the thickness of the walls have something to do with it?

Anyway, I hope the smart meter problems get sorted out soon, El.

Yogi, different mobile phone companies use different towers so it depends as to how close a house or flat is to a tower as to if you can get a decent signal. Here's a map of the UK showing mobile phone availability.

http://opensignal.com/coverage-maps/UK/

Type in a post code. The default view is coverage showing strength and some recommended providers. You can't scroll in though to get a more precise view. However with the towers option you can scroll in to see which towers are close to you. The chances are with your youngest son's flat that there isn't a Vodafone tower near him.

 Thanks El.

Working on my own accounts. Some time ago I banked 6 cheques. I generally enter them on the paying in slip in inreasing order of value. I noticed that with the banking with 6 cheques that not only were they listed in inreasing order of value (all different amounts), they were also in alphabetical order by surname (all different people).

There's a 1 in 32 chance of that happening so unusual but not rare.

 Everyone
Hope you all well, glad Yogi, all going well, apart from the sleep patterns x
Been busy with activities with the Edinburgh Festival, which finished last night. The Grandparents group, with whom i am involved was allocated free tickets so GD has seen a lot of shows, some boring i have to say and others good. Will now have to get fundraising for other activities.

Take care everyone,

 Definitely unusual.

Take care everyone,

Hi Skylark.

The town will seem quieter now that the festival is over.

*night owls* goodnight yogi & Ros I hope you've both had a good day

We've had a horrendously busy day, last minute back to school madness; naughty kids, impatient & angry parents, sarcastic snooty mothers... I'm glad it's the last day of it and I'm off tomorrow.
I predicted a rush of people next who have avoided the school rush, and then it should calm down.

Ros, good luck heading back to work I hope you've enjoyed your summer break

El, I don't blame you for cancelling your milkman, it was kind of you to start using him in the first place
~Sparkling Summer~

A Gloucester man drove his 4x4 into the sea after faithfully following the directions on his sat nav.

The motorist drove his Land Rover onto the beach at Brean and parked half-a-mile out on the mudflats at low tide.

But the Land Rover had to be towed to safety after the rising tide surrounded the vehicle.

Beach warden Kevin Williams launched a rescue operation and local farmer Richard Bigwood towed the 4x4 to safety with his tractor.

When the embarrassed driver finally returned to his vehicle on Monday evening he told rescuers his sat nav had guided him onto the mud.

Baffled Kevin said: "The driver, from Gloucester, said his sat nav system had guided him there, but he didn't tell us where he was trying to drive to.

"With the tide coming in so far, he was lucky that we managed to get him before the vehicle would have been submerged."

Beach wardens said the 4x4 driver was trapped after the front wheels got stuck in the mud and would have been swept away in just 20 minutes if he hadn't been rescued.

Rescuer Kevin Williams said the vehicle ended up "floating" on the waves as it was being rescued.

Summer, many years ago before sat navs drivers might use mapping software. I had an old version of Autoroute which at that time showed that at junction 10 of the M5 (near Cheltenham) there was access both north and south. You can get on to the M5 to go north and get off the M5 if you are going south but not the way. I think it probable that it was corrected in a later version (Microsoft has discontinued it).

It's fairly quiet at present but I'm expecting a memory stick from a client with their workings which will keep me busy. That might have arrived today but I've had my post so it will probably be tomorrow.

Then there's the really huge job I do each year. I could get a call any day to say they arer ready for me to start.

Painting by numbers kits used to be quite popular and it sounds as if these colouring books are tapping that market. I haven't looked at any but I would hope that the paper quality is high quality otherwise there's the risk that the colour pencils will affect the other side of the page (though less of an issue if there are pictures on only one side of each page).

It could also be quite healthy as a stress reliever.
