Squiggle, the first drops of rain have started here and it could be quite a wet afternoon.

The road near me is now completely closed off for the resurfacing (hopefully completed by the end of tomorrow). Traffic coming through the estate is finding that they can't get through on to that road so are having to turn round and come back. The closure has been announced by the council and on the local news website but a lot of people seem to have missed it.

Just posted my letter to the HMRC about my client. On the back saw a neighbour who was just about to get in his car. It's a courtesy car and he was having difficulty with the cap to the petrol tank so I showed him how to take it off (same as mine). I also mentioned that he couldn't get on to the road nearby and would have to drive through the estate.

So a few minutes later I saw him drive off and at the end of the road turn right heading for the road which had been closed off. A few minutes later I saw him coming back and heading down the road he should have gone down through the estate. He should have gone to the hearing equivalent of SpecSavers.

I knew this was a scam:

 Thanks for the heads up.

Had a lovely day with PB. She's gone off Peppa Pig and onto something called Ben and Holly's Little Kingdom.

lol El, I'll keep the Peppa DVDs, in case PB changes her mind again.

Out and about today, have a good day everyone.

or in case you start missing them yourself

It was rather strange yesterday, to have a PB day, and no Peppa!

Squiggle, it's brightened up here so hopefully that will filter down to you.

Although I had heard of those scam calls supposedly from TPS, yesterday's was the first I had received. Number witheld and the giveaway accent from the Indian subcontinent. Likely to be the same groups who do the windows technical support scams. They would try to con people into giving them their credit card or bank details to pay them to supposedly stop you getting scam calls. Obviously anyone who is conned loses their money and keeps on getting scam calls.

Squiggle, hopefully the weekend won't be as bad as forecast.

I've yet to get one of those fake Paypal emails but I've never used Paypal so that could be why.

I do get some spam emails supposedly coming from my clients where their address book has been hacked. Typically a one line wierd web address. Email shows their email address but also a fake one. Generally they have been from clients who use yahoo.co.uk but I got one today from a client who uses btinternet.com.

Good afternoon all I hope the rain has cleared and we're all dry again

Sorry I didn't get on here yesterday, I soent the day walking/lunching/ catching up with a friend who rarely gets days off work. It was a gorgeous day. Then, every time I picked up my phone to come here, I have multiple texts from various family & friends...

Did you enjoy the bake off?! I did

Yogi, have a good day out today and what's pb's latest news?
~Sparkling Summer~

Evening all.

We had a nice day with youngest son and were joined by his fiancÃĐe for tea.

Squiggle, I'm sick of scammers. If it isn't dodgy emails, it's dodgy phone calls.

I don't fancy the look of that theme park, El.

Paul's bread lion sculpture was very good indeed.

Summer, I hope you are getting a chance to relax tonight.

I did enjoy Bake Off yesterday. Some of those showstoppers were very clever and Paul (the contestant rather than the judge) deserved the honourable mention for his lion. Likely to be the best thing on Bake Off this year:

that was absolutely fantastic - very clever

Good morning everyone, drizzly again here - par for the course this week.

I may not know a lot about building design but I foresee massive problems with the swimming pool bridge when you take into account high winds and the movement of the two buildings.  You've had to be a deal braver than me to risk it.

Wow at that lion loaf, and did he have to do that under time pressure too?  Very clever

Summer I hope the work is steady today rather than a mad rush

Enjoy your day everyone

squiggle

Squiggle, it remains to be seen if that swimming pool ever gets built. The news article doesn't mention planning permission and that would have to be obtained.

For that section of Bake Off they were given 5 hours and would have known in advance so that they could do some thinking about what they were going to do and work out some design plans. So although there is time presure, they are not expected to dream up the idea from scratch in the 5 hours. There's 3 sections of each episode.

The first section is the signature challenge where the bakers show off their tried and tested recipes.

The second section is the dreaded technical challenge where the bakers can have no idea beforehand what to expect,

And the third is the showstoppers challenge (where the lion was) where the bakers show off what they can do in something which should be spectacular and tasty.
