Hi Rosgirl and everyone

It's grey and light rain at present. There's a rumour that we may see some sunshine in the next day or so

I saw Silk which was good, but whether it will rise above similar dramas remains to be seen. When I see that the Gary Rush character appears next week and again in the last 2 episodes, I wonder if that is a sign that it's going to go down the route of Maxine Peake's character being stalked by him etc.

Good afternoon everyone.    Wet and miserable here today.

Had a great day out yesterday but it was very tiring.  Went to visit hubby's cousin who lives over the border in Wales.  Left home at 5.30 am and got back at 8.00 pm.  Traffic was rather heavy on the way back but we stopped off for something to eat and let it clear.  Slept from 9.00 pm last night until 5.30 am this morning without a break (normally unheard of for me).  Had a cup of tea then went back to sleep until 9.00 am.  I'm fully recovered now.

Glad you got sorted at the dentist Skylark.  Sorry about the bill.  I have my six month check up in the next couple of weeks.  I hate visiting the dentist but make myself go because I fear really bad toothache more.

Yogi and Squiggle, hope you are both well.  Rosgirl sorry to keep missing you.  El Loro, I cannot wait for an explanation of your comment this morning.  Like Yogi, I'm intrigued too.  Will be back later to see what you have to say.

I'm back now, but it's a bit anti-climatic. You may remember back in November I posted saying that my lawnmower had been stolen. Then a few days later, a mower repair man knocked at the door returning it saying he should have taken it from a house further down the road.

I had thought that the house number he told me where the correct mover was, was the house I visited this afternoon, so I was thinking I would have an amusing story to tell to the new client, but it's a different house.

But at least I have a new client which is the important thing.

Never mind, El, the anticipation brightened up an otherwise boring day for me.
The important thing is that you got a new client.

Yes I agree, although of course my day was very exciting (speaking as the proud new owner of a new rear wiper ) My dear little car goes in for its MOT tomorrow, wish me luck.

I agree - I just couldn't do without one to get to work unfortunately - they are an expense though and petrol is soooo expensive at the moment

Yes and the fuel prices will get higher with the Lybian situation

Good morning everyone

Skylark and Rosgirl, I never got around to learning how to drive until I was 39 and I was dependent on others for getting to out of town clients. My parents never learned to drive and my brother did start many many years ago but was so lacking in confidence that he gave up. When I give him a lift I notice that he has zero road sense, so I'm glad he gave up. He is based in London so can get away without a car.

When it became clear that my then job was in jeopardy I realised that I needed to be able to drive, and it is just as well I did because it would be impossible to do what I do now without a car.

Good luck with the MOT squiggle, and congratulations on your brand new rear wiper.

Good morning everyone.
Good luck with the MOT today, Squiggle.
Mine is due next month and I know there's an intermittent problem with the ABS sensor - the same thing happened just before my MOT last year, too.
El, I didn't learn to drive until I was 31 - I simply didn't have the confidence to do it when I was younger. My mum was in her fifties before she passed her test, and she loves the freedom it gives her.

And she'll probably sail through again this time. I think that people tend to suspect that a car may fail before it is tested, and you've already replaced the wiper as a faulty one would certainly be picked up in the test. It is common practice for an MOT testing station, particularly if the car is being serviced at the same time, to get the MOT test done first, and if it fails, to then do the necessary work at the same time as the routine servicing, then get the car retested.

Good morning everyone.    It is a bit brighter here today, thank goodness.

Good luck with the MOT today Squiggle.  My car is three years old next month so it will need it's first MOT then.  I passed my driving test at the first attempt at the ripe old age of 20!!  Although I consider myself quite a good driver I drive because I HAVE to, not because I WANT to.  Living where I do I wouldn't be able to get to the shops, doctors etc without transport.

Talking about the doctors, I have my six month asthma clinic check up later this morning.  I'm still suffering the after effects of the cold I had at Christmas so I don't know what sort of results I will get today.

Will be back later.  Have a good day everyone.
