Nothing unusual about the above apart from
it's a painting, not a photograph
and Chuck Close, the artist, is paralysed.

That may be a first - for me to be the last poster here yesterday and the first today
Good morning everyone
Generally blue sky here
A woman in the States has been awarded $229,500 in damages after Time Warner Cable persisted with automated phone calls to her though she had told them to stop.

I wonder if and when someone in the UK will get a similar award and if that will help to reduce the number of automated phone calls we get.
Good morning everyone, especially you EL - well done on holding the Buddies thread up all by yourself yesterday, it was very quiet indeed
Yogi I hope all is going well with PB and you are both having a lovely time.
That artist is amazing, EL what determination - and talent.
Enjoy your day everyone
Squiggle, I was amazed when I saw that picture. It would have been based on a photo which the artist put gridlines on, then for each square of the grid used the technique is known as pointilism to replicate each square.
In case you hadn't heard there is a new series of Lewis due to be shown in 2016 and thought to be the final one. Probably 3 2-part episodes. That would then make 33 stories in all which was the same number as Inspector Morse.
Also another series of Endeavour expected to be shown at the start of next year.
Summer, if I started seeing 5 suns in the sky I think I would be hallucinating
I hope my brother's next visit isn't troubled though the two sides in the train dispute are so far apart that it's quite possible it will drag on for a long time.

As they are owl ones I thought I'd better
I am sure the night owls will love 'em
Latest picture released by the BBC for the Sherlock Victorian special:
The special is due to be shown around Christmas and is a standalone episode, and different from the main series.
Another series is due to be made but is not expected before 2017.

@ you two!
Evening all.
We had a lovely time with PB. Went to the seaside yesterday and she had a ball. The sea air knocked her out and she slept for 12 hours last night.
Will miss my little chatterbox, but not Peppa Pig!
El, I'm pleased that there will be another series of Lewis, but sad that it's the last. Good news that there is another series of Endeavour to look forward to.
Summer, you must be pleased to have your new washing machine up and running.
Hugs for Moonie, Velvet and Skylark.
Goodnight and sweet dreams everyone. Night owl hugs.
Good morning everyone
Fair weather here and forecast to be the warmest day of the week,
Yogi, I'm glad you had a great time with PB
Summer, I'm glad you had a good evening out with your friends
Good morning everyone, I am looking forward to a nice sunny afternoon, I have nearly finished all my chores, just one curtain pelmet to hang. I did hang it yesterday but decided the hooks needed to be in the bottom row rather than the top so the pelmet covered the rail.
Sounds like a lovely evening out Summer and a great day by the seaside Yogi - were there sand castles involved?
Enjoy your day everyone
Good morning everyone.
It has rained overnight but I don't know what the forecast is for up here.
Squiggle, you take care when hanging the pelmets!
It was a pebble beach so no sandcastles, but PB and Mr Yogi had a lovely time throwing stones into the sea. She is pretty good at throwing for a 2 year old!
Summer, I'm glad you had a nice catch up with your friend.
Have a good day everyone.
Squiggle, well done on almost finishing your chores
Yogi, I remember when I was very young going to Clevedon with my parents. Clevedon is about 10 miles from Weston Super Mare and so I was a bit disappointed when I discovered that the beach at Clevedon is pebbles and no sand.
In the last couple of weeks I've been asked to complete a NHS patient survey and a police services survey. And just now, an insurance survey (I think a legitimate one rather than a marketing one considering that it would take 15 minutes to complete).
It might be just a coincidence but it seems odd to get 3 major survey requests in a short time.
On the slight chance that any of you might be interested, here is a trailer released for the special Sherlock episode. The episode will also be shown in some selected cinemas around the world (I think the BBC did much the same for the 50th anniversary special of Doctor Who).
Good afternoon everyone
Just another brief visit for now
Sweet, glad to see you are settling in well and socialising too
Hope Bramble is well
El, the weather is just beginning to warm up here now. Suppose to get up into the mid 20's
Squiggle, well done for your endeavours. Take care when re-hanging that pelmet
Yogi, so pleased you had a lovely day with PB and Mr Yogi at the beach. Shame about there being no sand. PB sounds like she's got a strong arm for a little un
Gawd help the man who messes with her when she's grown up
Back again soon
Lovely to see you moonie, I hope you will be able to join us on a longer basis soon
As I menrioned Doctor Who above, the trailer for the next series:
The question which is circulating is about Maisie Williams who is seen at the end of the trailer. What is the significance of her character - it's known that she is in episodes 5 and 6. Is she in just those episodes or could she become the next companion in the event of Jenna Coleman leaving
Yes pelmets all safely up again, fiddly things.
The Guardian has the first chapter of Go Set a Watchman by Harper Lee on its website:
http://www.theguardian.com/boo...ad-the-first-chapter
The chapter is set on a train and there's some ambient sound in the background.
You can choose to hear the chapter read out by Reese Witherspoon with a fitting Southern accent. Or you can opt for the text only version.
My local news website has posted a series of photos from Gloucester taken in the 1960s. No description of the photos is given and there's no-one in them that I recognised. The only photo I can place is this one.
That's taken at what used to be called Barton Gates. Besides the exisitng railway station there used to be another one called Eastgate. That's where you would get to by going left down the line. The line going right split a bit further down, one part going to the docks, and the main line going to Bristol.
The gates, line, Eastgate Station are long gone,
I used to live not far away from there many years ago, so that scene is one that I saw many times as a child.
Got sidetracked earlier.
Moonie, good to see you back, even for a short visit. Take good care of yourself.
Squiggle, I'm glad to hear the pelmets are safely up.
El, I also love looking at old pics of places from my childhood.
I downloaded a couple of books today, so I'm off for a read.
Goodnight and sweet dreams. Night owl hugs.
Good moring everyone
Fair weather here today though forecast for tonight and tomorrow is rainy.
A good weekend to you, Velvet as well
Yogi, I hope you liked your books
Morning everyone
Looking cloudy atm but set to get warmer with rain later here
A great weekend to one and all
Good morning everyone, I think I have similar weather forecast to yours EL, although a brightish morning at the moment.
Nice to see you moonie and velvet, moonie I hope you are feeling a little better today.
Joins in with wishing everyone a happy weekend
Good morning moonie and squiggle

Takes a piece of chocolate and hazlenut tart but picks the hazelnuts out. Thanks El
