Good morning everyone

It's going to be a hot and humid day here though not as hot as the south east.

Yogi, I'm glad you had a nice meal with your son

I hope you aren't having any more problems with slow loading pages and a lack of smileys.

Summer, I wonder why your phone socket doesn't accomodate the broadband hub as I would have thought it just used a standard phone socket plug. If there's only one phone socket you do need a boradband filter which places like PC World stock. The filter plugs into the phone socket. It has two sockets, one for the hub and one for the phone. If you have two phone sockets side by side, BT says you don't need a filter, just use one socket for the hub, and one for the phone.

Good morning everyone, much cloudier today and we've had a shower but so much cooler than overnight, my it was sooo hot last night, heaven knows what temperature it was, I was very grateful for the ceiling fan.

Oh no Summer, what on earth? Why should you need a different phone socket, as EL says I would have thought a standard BT socket with a broadband filter.  I hope BT don't keep you waiting too long now, and charge a fortune which they seem to do nowadays

Enjoy your visit to the garden centre Yogi, go and release some of those poor imprisoned plants and set them free in your garden

Enjoy your day everyone

Someone from Gloucester has discovered a strange error on Google Maps for Gloucester. There's a part of Southgate Street which forms a triangle with Commercial Road. The part of Southgate Street from the top right of the triangle to the bottom of the triangle is paved. If you go into Streetview mode and look at the top of the triangle before the Commercial Road junction you can see that it is paved. But if you move southwards down Southgate Street suddenly the paving has gone and you can see cars and a bus. Even more noticeable of you turn round to look north. In fact if you get to the bottom point of the triangle and look north, there's a line of cars.

Someone's identified the pictures as what it was like in 1997.

Good afternoon all what a glorious day! I'm painting & decorating, but just taking a quick snack break. I hope you're all having a lovely day

I spent ages on the phone to BT this morning and after wasting 45 mins talking to 2 different unhelpful non english speaking people, who quoted me ÂĢ40 and then ÂĢ130 for an engineers visit, which I refused, I then got through to someone who concluded I need a filter! They were shocked to discovered some weren't included in my hub parcel, so are sending me some in the post asap
I'm still logging each event in the long line of dire customer service that continues.

Where's moonie? Is he still absent?

I'll be back when I can
~Sparkling Summer~

Summer, moonie popped in 3 days ago to say hello and hoped to be back soon so I think he's still poorly.

Broadband filters are a few pounds and can be bought from any computer shop, Curries, and the like. They look like:

The ADSL cable from the hub plugs into the socket which on the above is on the left, phone plugs into the one on the right if you have a land line phone, and the lead plugs into the phone socket on the wall.

It does seem odd that BT wouldn't include one in their pack as unless your phone socket has an ADSL socket built in or you use Virgin cable, broadband filters are required.

 all.
Weather here not as hot as anticipated, but rather humid, have a breeze here as near the coast. My sister was in town and its stifling there.
Oh Summer what a carry on you are having , hope you put in a complaint about lack of customer service ! I thought these filters were included in the box as standard. I always found when you phone, to avoid the call centres, press the number where it asks if you wish to pay a bill then you get through to English speaking people, then apologise for pressing the wrong number, then they will put you through to the right department  A hint learnt from the money matters person, Martin somebody, cant remember his name.
Enjoy your day at the garden centre Yogi.
Hope everyone else well , especially moonie

Hi Skylark

I think you may be thinking of Martin Lewis.

I hope the weather is less humid for you and for the rest of us by tomorrow morning, it's supposed to be fresher by then.

I think it's wise to have a couple of spare broadband filters in store so that if one starts playing up you've got a replacement on hand.

Thanks El, dropped it on the bus on Sunday taking GD to nanas, and stood on it

Hay fever playing up today, would like to take my eyes out and wash them under the tap!! Sneezing too. Anyone else suffer? Its not pleasant is it

My sister suffered terribly with hay fever so I do sympathise Skylark, I hope you get some rain so that the pollen count will decrease and also so maybe it will be less humid.

Well thank goodness for that Summer, silly people thinking your socket needed to be changed when all you need is a broadband filter.  I always keep a spare, it can be a nightmare when one fails.  It happened to me and I had to go all around the house replacing each filter with the spare to find the faulty one.

Skylark, although I do get a bit of hay fever, it's never been too bad and I've never had to take medication for it. Sounds as if you need some anthistamine tablets if it's still bad tomorrow. For the eyes try holding a flannel soaked in cold water over them.

Apparently it's now officially the hottest day in July on record. That's at Heathrow and it's several degrees cooler here. The record for the hottest day on record used to be in Cheltenham of all places but that was in August.

El Loro

Good morning everyone, I hope it is cooler for everyone today who was suffering from the heat yesterday.

Skylark I hope the hay fever is not so troublesome today and that you can get a good phone.  Summer I hope the filters arrive today so you can finally get your broadband up and running.

Yogi good luck with the shopping, hope there's lots of delicious salad stuff and fruit.  Did you get any nice plants yesterday?

Enjoy your day everyone

Mobile speed camera van parked on Cheltenham Road in Gloucester this morning at 9.00

Mothers taking their children to school at that time were forced to cross the busy road as a result rather than at the traffic lights a bit further down the road. Cyclists not impressed either as their cycle path was blocked.

Rang a client and got through to their answerphone. Left a message on it and was allowed about 70 seconds.

Afterwards I discovered a message on my Virgin Media voicemail (which activates if I'm on the phone). It was from the person I was talking to.

I wonder how they were able to ring me on the same line at the same time I was leaving a message on their answerphone

El Loro

That was very inconsiderate of the police speed camera van, I am thinking especially of elderly pedestrians, those in wheelchairs or mobility scooters, young mothers with pushchairs and the visually impaired.

There is something a little comical about you both leaving messages for each other at the same time, but as you say how on earth is that possible?

squiggle

True squiggle, it's a bit comical but I don't know how it's possible. It could be that she doesn't have an answerphone as such and that I was put through to her phone company's voice mail though it was her voice on the answerphone. May be the start of the voice mail ends the call on her phone so that she was able to ring me. That's the only thing I can think of.

El, I wonder if you both called each other at exactly the same time, so your answerphones kicked in as your phones were engaged?

I remember one time my mum and I dialled each other at exactly the same moment and got connected.

Grocery shopping was postponed. I had to wait in for a call from a nurse, to arrange an appointment time for her to administer my first injection tomorrow - only she never called!

Squiggle, I was looking for a deep red, beautifully scented, red rose (the old fashioned kind) but couldn't find one. I did see some gorgeous climbing roses with a beautiful scent but I haven't got anywhere to plant them. However, Mr Yogi is considering replacing the hedge at the bottom of the back garden with a high fence, so I could have lots of climbers going up the fence next year. Mr Yogi is known for changing his mind, so I won't count on it until it actually happens.

Good morning everyone.

The sun is shining.

El, I managed to contact the Homecare people this morning and they got the nurse to call me. She will be coming late afternoon, so I can get out and about this morning.

I have to have four injections today, then two next week, then one injection a fortnight.

Have a good day everyone.

Yogi19

Good morning everyone, a nice morning here but due to cloud over a bit later on and a little rain this evening.

Yogi I hope all goes well with the injections, it seems an awful lot of injections - you're not needle phobic I hope.

Nice shots of Pluto EL and as the probe gets closer here is a greeting from one of the inhabitants
