Good morning everyone

It started raining just as I went to bed last night, and it was still raining this morning. It has eased off now and although it's still cloudy, I think it improves here during the day. I know it's bad up North, and I hope that the white stuff isn't disruptive for you Skylark and Yogi. I think it's just wet for you Joyron. Let's hope this is the last of the white stuff this winter.

Good afternoon everyone

Thank you for the flowers, squiggle

I didn't get any fog this morning and it had stopped raining by 9, it's just very grey.

This morning, I spent a personal record for my weekly shop at M & S - ÂĢ90 on food just for myself But I had a voucher for 10% off if I spent over ÂĢ60 - I don't normally buy that amount, but I had things I wanted to stock up on, so it made sense to make as much use of that 10% as I could.

Good morning everyone

It's another cloudy day here, but it is dry.

Just received the weekly update for my church's website. It's my turn this week to update, and in the last week the site has been upgraded and the background software has been updated. So if you never hear from me again, it is because I have become lost in a sea of bits and bytes, and I have already seen that it has a widget - these widgets are taking over the world

It was a close thing though but I managed to wriggle out from the grip of the widget, feathers intact.

I wonder what would happen if the Gagajoyjoy widget met my church widget. Would they fall in love, marry and have lots of widgetettes?
Here's what a widget looks like:

I think these widgets on this forum and on our church website are things which you can use to link one website in another website, but goes beyond the ordinary hyperlink we are familiar with. I think it tends to be used as a form of advertising. But I'm not going to start trying to embed this forum in my church website or vice versa as I don't think that would go down to well

I never did say where this forum website widget was. If you click on Home at the top left of this page you will get to the Home page. If you move your pointer so that it is over any text under the Recent Topics, you may notice an icon appear well to the right of the Recent Topics header. It looks like a piece of paper with a corner folded over on top of another piece of paper. If you then mover your pointer to that icon you get the message "Embed this Widget".

If you click on that icon you get to a screen called Widget Builder. Although it looks as if you can play around with the settings, I have not and I don't think it would be sensible for anyone to unless thay are !00000% certain that they know what they are doing. I do know that if you click on the button called Display Widget Code with these settings you get a long list of HTML code which I think you can copy and then embed the code in whatever website you were working on. But this is clearly only intended for website programmers, not for ordinary users.

There isn't a close button as such on this page, just use Home or Forums from the menu to move away.

And now you know all about widgets (says he tongue in cheek).

Did any of you see South Riding last evening ? I thought it was quite watchable. It's got several people I recognise from elsewhere - Peter Firth from Spooks (seems much older and more overweight than in that), David Morrissey in various TV programmes and films, Douglas Henshaw from Primeval, and John Henshaw who was the station master etc in Born and Bred. The lead character who is the linchpin for the story is the new school headmistress and is played by Anna Maxwell Martin. I had seen Anna Maxwell Martin before as the leading women in Bleak House. A very strong actress, I think, and one who could become one of Britain's top actresses.
