Yogi and Skylark, I think it depends on where the solar flare arrived here as to if the Northern Lights would be visible. There may be some today, so there's still a chance, but unfortunately it looks as if the whole country is covered in cloud all day.

I have noticed over the years that where I live, if there is some astronomical event due that it is normally spoiled by cloud. The total solar eclipse, which doesn't happen very often in the UK, of 11 August 1999 was ruined for most by cloud, though I did see it slightly when the clouds thinned a bit. The closest we will get to a total eclipse, but around 80% rather than complete, is on 20 March 2015. We have a long time to wait before the next total eclipse - 23 September 2090 - don't hold your breath for this one

Channel 4 said today that Breakfast at Tiffany's would now be shown on Friday 4 March. My guess is that because of the tradedy last Saturday at Newbury racecourse with the meeting being called off due to two horses being accidentally electrocuted so Channel 4 had to cancel their coverage and decided to show today's horse racing at Newbury instead.

Good afternoon everyone.    It's dull and miserable here today and the forecast for tomorrow is rain from start to finish.

Hubby is working from home today so I've not had chance to get here sooner.  Probably won't be about much over the weekend either.

It is nice to see Rosgirl in our lttle thread.  It's always great to have new people pop in.

Will catch up with you all as and when I can.  Have a great weekend whatever you are doing.

It could be because the horses would have metal horseshoes which would conduct electricity. I don't know if the jockeys were on the horses or not as this happened in the parade ring before the race was called. Apparently the area this happened is grass covered rather than tarmacked or rubberised as other racecourse paddocks are, so that would give a greater risk of electric shock if there was a faulty cable undeneath, particularly if the grass was wet.

And I have also seen that the race meeting this afternoon was the rescheduled meeting from Saturday, so my guess re Breakfast at Tiffany's being rescheduled seems very likely.

We went to the park for a bit, but the slide and swings were wet, so we came back and played cars, she loves them and has loads. Dolls bore her. Some very supervised drawing! Then a DVD so grannie could have a cuppa (Stuart Little) My son was in , so she climbed around him for a while!

I thought that about the 'supervised drawing' I remember when my grandsons were small and were drawing at the dining table.  I was standing down the other end of the room and the eldest one turned round to talk with the pen in his hand and then casually drew it across the back of the dining chair (upholstered in white brocade)

Have you reminded him of this act of vandalism, now that he's grown up?
No and I just said be careful at the time, I don't think he even realised he had done it, it was just a casual thing, I don't even think he thought about the pen in his hand.
