Dental hygienist appointment went well, go back in 6 months

While I was waiting in reception, a pensioner was talking with the receptionist about pensions and being taxed unfairly (receptionist said I was an accountant). I wasn't going to get involved as he was unhappy that pensioners were being tax at all rather than that he though it might be wrong. But he also was worried that if he died before his wife, she would get any state pension oe his firm's pension. Neither the receptionist or I though that would happen and suggested he got in touch with the state pension people and his firm's pension people or his union.

I would expect his wife to get some of his state pension and some of his firm's pension. Not the same as he gets, but not nothing which is what he was thinking. (And was a British national so I would assume a full national insurance record).

There are reports in certain papers with headlines such as:

Rare weather phenomenon 'El Nino' to spark worst winter in Britain for years

In reality, no-one knows if there will be a "El Nino" event this year, and in any case if there is no-one knows what if any effect there might be in this country.

Just for the record, El Nino is not a relative of mine

Yogi I hope pb's cold doesn't last long, was she extra cuddly today?

Hi velvet

Thanks Summer. She wasn't too bad in the morning but it seemed to hit her hard in the afternoon. She spent a lot of time on granny's knee, having lots of cuddles. Hopefully, she'll feel a bit better tomorrow.

Do you all feel ok?

Loads of people here have it, and so do loads of people where my sister in essex is. She said 2/3 of her college class was absent today

I feel fine, but PB has previous for being generous with her colds!

Gosh, it must be a fast spreading bug!

Thanks El, I hope so too.

Squiggle, how are your workmen getting on?

Grocery shopping today. I may buy some cakes.

Have a good day everyone.

In that case, I may pop back later

I hope PB is feeling better today and that you don't *acquire* her illness

Enjoying the *kick off* of BB???

Have a good day and will see you again soon

Yogi I am glad you have the sun now, it's raining here but the forecast is better for tomorrow.  Yesterday evening was so beautiful it really felt like summer for the first time.  So sorry to hear PB has this dreadful bug, my eldest grandson's family have all had it, his stepdaughter is on her second lot of antibiotics now, they have had to give her adult Amoxycillin and she is only 3 I hope PB gets over it really quick and she hasn't passed it onto you.

Moonie! you're back I hope you feel better now and I love love love the smiley.

The work is going well and I shall miss my two new friends when they go, they are such a joy.  We were having a laugh yesterday, I am the sort of person who visualises the colour scheme in my head.  I can see the colour I want for my utility room, it's salmon pink which is not in fashion at the moment but I think will be perfect for that room, so I have been trying all these samples and they have been giving me their opinions.  Lovely lads.  Hopefully the new roof and new door go on next week, the house colour is gorgeous, the newly cemented roof tile edges look so good, such a professional job, these lads are really talented.  They have been working together over 10 years, they never have to advertise, it's all word of mouth.  You really do have to know someone who knows about them.  And the cladding looks amazingly different to the horrible brown boards we had before.

Enjoy your day everyone

I hope this idea works - putting reflective collars on cattle roaming on Minchinhampton, Selsley and Rodborough commons, near Stroud.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-e...cestershire-32711171

When I was a child we went to Michinhampton and Rodborough (they are next to each other) quite often and there are quite a few roads going across them and there's no fencing (the commons are owned by the National Trust).

That sounds a good idea EL, to keep the cattle safe obviously but also can you imagine your car hitting such a large animal?  The situation was the same on some roads near Epping Forest when I was growing up, you often used to see cows wandering across the road especially in Woodford Green.  Most people were used to it though and took care but I could imagine it would be dangerous at night - especially as so many councils are trying to save money on lighting nowadays.

I think this might be one BB too far, where have they got this lot of wannabees from?  Central casting?

Afternoon all.

<- jam doughnuts and chocolate eclairs for all.

I love the little aeroplane smiley, Moonie.

No problem Summer, I guessed you had conked out.

Squiggle, I hope your grandson's stepdaughter gets well soon. It sounds like she has been hit hard by the bug.

I'm really pleased that you are happy with the work that has been done on the house, and that you like the lads who are doing it. It makes a huge difference when you have workmen who are trustworthy and reliable.

El, I think the reflective collars for cattle could be a good idea.

Thank you all for your good wishes for PB. I text my DiL this morning and PB had managed to get some sleep last night and although she is still very snuffly, she seemed a little bit better.

Squiggle, I think most of them have either been on other reality shows or are known to other Z listers.
