I agree about the car Summer, there were layers and layers of polish on my old car, the surface felt like glass.  I haven't yet started on my new one, builders everywhere, but as soon as I have the place back to myself again I will get going on that one too.

Oh, the fun and games I have with some clients. I've just been talking with one of them about a shortfall I found last week. Turns out that they had a cleaner whose no longer with them and in all probability had been pinching the money. Near impossible to prove it so they aren't getting the police involved.

 

Good heavens EL I hope they didn't steal too much and leave them in a hole.

No, it's not a huge amount of money so it won't cause them problems, just a rather unpleasant shock.

 

The ex-bishop of Gloucester has now been cleared after the investigation by the C of E of the allegations which had been made against him. The police had dropped their investigation some months ago. Although he has retired, he can now return to the ministry in a retired capacity.

It was their house cleaner from cash which hadn't been banked. It would be regarded as petty theft, not big amounts.

 

It must be disheartening when someone betrays your trust like that.

Cloudy here and there's been a bit of rain though not much expected today. Thursday in my area being forecast to be a wash out.

 

Another earthquake just been reported in Nepal 7.4 magnitude compared to 7.8 in April

We have had rain but it's brightening up nicely now, they did forecast Thursday to be a washout down here too but have changed it now to be showery.

The earthquake in Nepal has been classified as a 7.3 rather than 7.4. The one in April was about 5 times as powerful, but this one is still a major quake.

I don't think it can affect my brother's visit this coming weekend as I assume the union has to give at least 7 days notice of industrial action.

From time to time I get letters, emails or phone calls from local bookkeepers seeing if they could do any work for clients of mine. Today, a young woman knocked on my door making enquiries. I had to say sorry that she had had a wasted journey as I work by myself from home and my clients were small and unlikely to want to pay for a bookkeeper.

 

It's a shame she had a wasted journey EL but I can admire her enterprise in trying to get work where she can.

We've got a Saturday girl who literally turned up asked for a job and we didn't have one, but were so impressed with her that we created one. She's turned out to be very helpful and a valuable member of the team

Back in 1975 I was doing the accounts for one of the firm's clients which imported Russian tractors and bulldozers. The client's staff had company cars which were Russian such as the one I've shown. I was given a lift in one back to the hotel. A rather basic vehicle, a bit like a metal box with wheels.

It had one unusual feature which the driver demonstrated. The gear stick could be taken out of the gear box and put back. Quite useful in deterring any potential car thief,

But why anyone would want to steal it

It doesn't look like a particularly comfortable car.

Lots of rain forecast for tomorrow morning but dryer in the afternoon, so I shall enjoy the sunshine forecast for today while I can.
