Sorry to hear you're not well moonie, hope you feel better soon - eat cake is my recommendation

Marie Antoinette probably didn't say "Let them eat cake". If she said anything it's more likely that she said "Let them eat brioche".

I was wondering where Moonie was all weekend, rest well and come back soon

I love ginger parkins- sooooo nice!

Squiggle, I completely sympathise with your car polishing muscle ache last week- we did my car yesterday, it's hard graft but well worth it to protect the paintwork

Yogi, I love driving my new car it feels very different to the old one, but smoother and safe

Skylark I hope all is well with you, we keep missing each other like passing ships!

El, great that your client is reliable, I wish more were like that

Good heavens EL I hope they didn't steal too much and leave them in a hole.

No, it's not a huge amount of money so it won't cause them problems, just a rather unpleasant shock.

How did the cleaner get access to the money?!

Since he has been cleared of any wrong doing, that's as it should be.

It was their house cleaner from cash which hadn't been banked. It would be regarded as petty theft, not big amounts.

It must be disheartening when someone betrays your trust like that.

Good morning everyone, good heavens EL another earthquake in Nepal! I don't recall it being mentioned before as having frequent earthquakes

We have had rain but it's brightening up nicely now, they did forecast Thursday to be a washout down here too but have changed it now to be showery.

Enjoy your day everyone, moonie I hope you are feeling a little better today

The earthquake in Nepal has been classified as a 7.3 rather than 7.4. The one in April was about 5 times as powerful, but this one is still a major quake.

From time to time I get letters, emails or phone calls from local bookkeepers seeing if they could do any work for clients of mine. Today, a young woman knocked on my door making enquiries. I had to say sorry that she had had a wasted journey as I work by myself from home and my clients were small and unlikely to want to pay for a bookkeeper.

Back in 1975 I was doing the accounts for one of the firm's clients which imported Russian tractors and bulldozers. The client's staff had company cars which were Russian such as the one I've shown. I was given a lift in one back to the hotel. A rather basic vehicle, a bit like a metal box with wheels.

It had one unusual feature which the driver demonstrated. The gear stick could be taken out of the gear box and put back. Quite useful in deterring any potential car thief,

But why anyone would want to steal it

lol That was an unusual deterrent!

It doesn't look like a particularly comfortable car.

Good morning everyone, I hope all goes well with the hygienist, I usually find it's quite a pleasant experience knowing that any plaque that is sneakily building up is stopped in its track.

Lots of rain forecast for tomorrow morning but dryer in the afternoon, so I shall enjoy the sunshine forecast for today while I can.

Enjoy your day everyone
