There's a Portuguese film tonight on Film 4 called Eccentricities of a Blonde-haired Girl (1.15 very early tomorrow morning). It's a short film - 75 minutes with adverts). A man on a train journey talks with a woman he's just met about his life and a love affair.

Slow moving and I think predominantly talk with little if any action. Made in 2009 and has a U certificate.

Why mention it? It was directed by Manoel de Oliviera who recently died.

He was 101 when he directed the film and that's not a typo.

The second oldest film director to woek was Leni Reifenstahl - although made over some years this documentary was completed when she was 100. She also edited the film and was also the world's oldest scuba diver.

No commentary, just beautiful underwater scenery.

Following my two hours of weeding and Mr Yogi washing the car, we decided we deserved a treat and went for lunch. Prawn cocktails followed by a huge roast dinner - yummy! No dessert, as we didn't have room.

I would probably not try those biscuits in case they affected my thyroid (had treatment for overactive thyroid years ago and following treatment it became underactive so take medication ever since), so could be taking a bit of a risk. One biscuit wouldn't be a problem but getting a pack of them could.

You may remember that back in December I posted about a very elderly client, her offshore bank account, and HMRC wanting information about her account going back years.

HMRC have at long last replied to my letter. They've accepted what I've said and have closed their enquiries as they realise that her income is not enough for her to be liable to any tax.

What's the catch El? 

Surely there has to be one if HMRC 'have accepted' 

Not really a catch but HMRC say that if they received information that the client should be a taxpayer that they would re-open their enquiries. That's fair enough but is a remote possibility.

Some of the stuff that's coming out during this election is quite weird. Most of it is garbage. Not one politician has yet answered a straight question with a straight answer. I guess that's what being a politician is all about though 

That was a great film, better than the re-make, in my opinion anyway.  I hope everyone is enjoying the sunshine, it's been quite nice here today and the sun is shining in the window like mad now.

Squiggle, I agree with you. I've never seen the remake as the film in my question cannot be bettered.
