Internet explorer isn't working properly either, so I can't get onto Firefox that way. I haven't tried my emails on the laptop as I always go into them on the IPad, so I'll check that out later. Thanks El.

I think I've given up for today! Youngest son is visiting tomorrow, so I think I'll let him have a look at it, as he's much more computer savvy than me.

Forgot to add: There is internet connection as I was able to update my avg and itunes, it's just the browsers which won't open.

El, I have a man who looks after my laptop, not that I use it very. Its just a backup for my iPad now 

He is very reasonable in the price he charges 

Not that that is any good to Yogi though 

Yogi, you could try running Internet Explorer in safe mode. On my Windows 7 computer that's Start - All Programs - Accessories - System Tools - Internet Explorer (No Add ons).

 

To start Firefox in safe mode hold down the shift key when starting Firefox.

 

Another possibility is that some malware has got on your laptop. So run a full AVG scan on the laptop.

Since midday we have had quite a lot of sunshine and it was quite warm. Going a little cooler now though 

Managed to dry a line of washing

El, I have managed to get Internet Explorer's browser to open now, so son can download Firefox that way, if he needs to do an uninstall/reinstall tomorrow. Thank you so much for all your help.

I hope yogi's hair is still in tact after yesterday's laptop woes fingers crossed your son can tackle it when he visits later. Meanwhile, Happy PB day

BIL loved his gingerbread house! He swiped a few sweets off it as soon as i delivered it the meal was delicious and then we went out searching for northern lights, as a geomagnetic storm raged! Unsuccessful though, Wales & Cumbria seem to have had good sightings.

I'm meeting a friend for lunch today and am supposed to be walking Bramble early but she's snoring loudly!

Good morning everyone, we had a little mist this morning but that has burned off now and it looks like being a lovely sunny day

 

I hope I have rescued a bee this morning, I went to check to see if my recycling had been collected, it hadn't, and found a bee barely alive.  I popped him on the windowsill and put some honey and warm water on a bit of tile and put him so he could get his sucker tube in the mixture.  I thought he was too far gone but I just went and checked and he's gone and he's not on the floor so I think he must have flown off.

 

I am so glad the gingerbread house went down so well Summer, I hope you have a good day off.  Disappointing about the Northern Lights though.  Have a great PB day Yogi.

Re Internet Explorer. News today about its future.

Microsoft have announced that they are dropping it for their next version of Windows - Windows 10 due later this year. They are developing a new browser which they say will be faster. They will still include a version of Internet Explorer in Windows 10 in order to aid companies that have developed software for IE, but that's to aid the transition over to the new browser.
