Notes that Skylark has been doing housework
Well done and hi Skylark
Australia is now officially part of Europe
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-31380742
At school my worst subject was geography but I had always thought that Australia was on the other side of the world which is why it takes so long to fly there. I must have been wrong all these years.

I heard that on the radio yesterday El
Why don't they just make it the World Song Contest?

Housework done, moonie . It is well recorded i loathe housework, but cant afford a maid!
Yes i saw that about Australia
My dog. Kia been unwell but glad to report she on the mend. She is terrible for picking things up in the park. Food lying around etc. If people didnt know us they would think she never gets fed! She has had some chicken and rice, tail wagging Had her at park, and firmly on the lead! I see some snowdrops popping up. Lovely.
Skylark, Bramble is exactly the same, I wish they didn't upset themselves so but they never stop they they. Hope you can put your feet up now
Under a week to go for official pancake day so you are getting a flying start Summer
I am glad Kia is on the mend again, they never seem to learn do they? They make themselves ill and still go on eating all sorts of horrible things.
I hope the car isn't expensive to fix Summer, I think I am going to have order a couple of new tyres and pop into Halfords for new wiper blades for mine, it's that time of year again and the MOT is due beginning of March so time to make sure she's ready to be inspected.
Summer, I hope your car repairs don't cost a fortune.
Anyone would think you like pancakes
Afternoon all.
El, I know my geography is rubbish, but even I know Australia isn't in Europe!
Skylark, I'm glad Kia is feeling better.
I bought some daffoldil and snowdrop bulbs "in bloom" in the garden centre today. Also bought some new books for PB. 5 books for ÂĢ5 - a bargain!
Summer, I'm glad the car is now in the garage and hopefully it won't cost an arm and a leg to fix.You know where to send any leftover pancakes.
Squiggle, my MOT is due in March too. I always dread it!
I hope you got your banking done and are now back in the warm, Moonie.
Made some soup, will swap Summer, for a savoury pancake
I dont drive, but hope all those with cars ok, and not too expensive to fix
Got my son driving lessons for his 21st. He says no, he not ready for driving yet. Glad he being responsible . I hope the law changes and stops 17 year olds driving. Maybe in rural areas its fine, but large cities its worrying . A lot of 17 year olds cant make a cup these days, let alone being let loose with a powerful car . I know the Scottish Government looking into it.
Have to pick up GD, take care xx
It's definitely soup making weather, Skylark.
I think quite a few people would agree with raising the age of learner drivers.
Skylark, I'm glad your son is being sensible in not rushing to learn to drive I didn't learn until I was 40, neither of my parents drove. My mother was in the ATS during WW2 and was given some training to drive army trucks but she stopped as her legs were too short to reach the pedals in those trucks. That's what she said to us though she wasn't exceptionally short. My brother has never learned to drive, but he lives in London.
I am now officially warm, at last

El, I had driving lessons but knew I would never make a driver let alone a good driver. So after a few lessons I gave up

Always a lovely feeling, coming in from the cold to feel toasty warm is just gorgeous.
Yogi I hope both of our cars just sail through. Well done on your son being very sensible Skylark, he knows his own mind.

Fingers crossed, Squiggle.
I like to get mine ready beforehand so she is looking her best, silly I know but I think otherwise I would let the old girl down. When I was parked up on my way to the doctors yesterday a couple went by casting very appreciative glances at her, I think because of her age and rarity nowadays it might take some people back to when they owned one.
I saw the last few minutes of Eggheads just now and the last question was about the English folksong "The Lincolnshire Poacher". The music is familiar to me from somewhere.

Aw hope your car goes thru ok. My father was a car mechanic, and hubby bought and sold cars. You do get rather caring about them, dont you ?
Glad you all warm. I put my halogen heater on, its bright , but cheaper than huge gas bills xx
My father listened to Radio 3 a lot and when I was living there years ago I would hear lots of classical music. I do remember hearing music by Benjamin Britten. He arranged various English folk songs sung by Peter Pears including The Lincolnshire Poacher so that's probably why it's familiar to me.
I've definitely heard that tune before but the words don't ring a bell
Ooh er!
I've definitely heard that tune before but the words don't ring a bell
The tune may have been used with different words but I can't place it.
Unfortunate names I did hear of a building firm years ago called Bodgett & Scarper, whether that's apocryphal or not I'm not sure. And the head of tax in the Ilford area used to be A. Fidler!
When I was working in Leeds years ago I walked by a firm of soliciors called "Le Brasseur J. Tickle". They merged with another firm so as now called "RadcliffesLeBrasseurâ
lol at those unfortunate names.
